Half this story is Surya learning (and often failing at doing so... ) basic patience, not always choosing violence and force and actualy getting to know herself a bit better and what kind of person she wants to be.
Alards entire job description is being imaginative and solving problems that arrise as he goes along so while sharply focused he is also more the straigth up thinker and planmaker of the three.
