6️⃣What I try to do when I feel comfortable enough with someone is just come out and say "Hey, is there something up?" and then try to be open to whatever feedback is there, even if it's "nope, all clear over here" It's just sometimes hard when there is so much other noise in the pipeline.
5️⃣Obviously this is hyper-vigilance, but when you've been fucked over for missing a cue as much as I have (both professionally, and not) It starts to feel like the hyper-vigilance is the only correct way to behave.

4️⃣In a very real way, I have to be hyper aware of the emotions of people in my orbit, professionally or otherwise. I might *choose* to ignore their emotions, but if they're generally people I enjoy? I have a much harder time doing that. because I obviously think they're nice/cool/whatever.
3️⃣and because I try to be genuinely interconnective and give and receive empathy In ways proscribed by relationships, I obviously can't always be like "Omgareyoumadatme!??!" which sometimes I wanna do. Some people see that as "over familiarity" but i see it as an early warning system.
2️⃣It makes my brain see otherwise completely professional interactions as if folks are somehow angry/upset with me and I have to then *stop* and contextualize *why* they would be upset and then eventually get around to the point of "they're not upset with you, your brain is just fucked right now."
🧵The fundamental problem with trying to be aware and process my feelings openly and honestly with myself or with others is an understanding that I genuinely am hyper aware of everyone around me and their emotional state. I don't think I try to people please, per se, but I have RSD and it sucks.
