Very interesting listening to @eamonlynch.bsky.social on the Golf Channel this evening talking about the PGA Tour's business issues. Makes one wonder whether they leave the traditional structures in place for rank and filers but create a semi detached Premier League to sit on top, like soccer did.
A not true but very very true observation on public opinion in the modern era
If you care enough about Canadian history to follow this account, this decision should cause you grave concern. In a world of "doing your own research" and "alternative facts" we need greater access to sources of information, not less.
Almost 90 people being cut.
Canadian historian Adam Chapnick, a professor of defence studies at the Royal Military College of Canada:
“I don’t know how you justify this decision if you have any sort of commitment to history."
Is the Carney government "new", really, at this stage? I guess? But it feels like a stretch.
I don't see politeness as the problem. I see the problem as being rooted in basic facts of reality becoming degraded into a matter of political opinion, with the result that the truth has become biased.
Meanwhile, the Canadian Conservative leader has gone to the UK to try and show Farage how to blow an in-the-bag election.
Well now. France and England have sent an interesting message today to all those Irish rugby media types who sneered at Ireland's not-dominant-enough win over Wales yesterday. Nothing quite like 6 Nations rugby!
The front page of The National. The headline reads: THIS IS THE HUMAN COST. The photo stretches across the front and back pages of the paper and is the aerial view of 100 freshly dug graves for the murdered schoolgirls of Minab, Iran
NEW: US & Israeli have bombed a 4th school.
Shahid Hamedane School in Tehran was hit today, following schools hit in Minab and Parand, Iran.
And The National in Scotland seems to be the only newspaper in the Western world giving these war crimes appropriate coverage.
Tomorrow’s front page👇
When you're going after the Friends/Quakers, you know you've got yourself on the wrong side of the line. An utter disgrace for all concerned.
For early Canadian football research, newspapers.com is a tremendously useful tool. Kingston, Peterborough, Brockville and London -- and above all Hamilton -- played important parts in the game's early history, and the local papers are a great way in to these things.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
That is the word.
And really, there is no better word for the whole regime. A word I use advisedly. It isn't an administration. It's a regime. And an obscene one.
NOEM: I would disagree with the judge
CROCKETT: I'm sure you would, but can you tell me whether or not you have a law degree?
NOEM: A what?
CROCKETT: A law degree
NOEM: No I do no-
CROCKETT: Okay
Bravo: the column fans of the DP World Tour have been itching for somebody to write has been written, and the things that need to be said have been said. ⤵️
I have only one speed. Option 2.
Military family?
I heard this comment this morning. Typical Toronto sports media. "It's very simple. You take this useless waste of space, offer him to some other team, demand a great player or first-round pick in return, and bingo." They actually think every other GM is a moron.
FIFA Peace Prize 2026 to Netanyahu?
Can we have a word about the rule of law, Prime Minister? It's how we ascertain that all the malarkey about "I'm not breaking into your house and assaulting you, dummy, I'm defending myself" is NOT malarkey. Do you expect us to accept the say-so of a war criminal and a serial liar?
I'll say this for the FIFA Peace Prize: it takes a surprisingly large number of illegal airstrikes to earn one.
Is that you in the dragon?
Yes! How can people wail about immigrants' ability to speak English if you teach them English? Pull that funding and let the wailing commence!
Terrible news that Sydney rugby league historian Terry Williams has died. A great bloke, a good friend, and a man who brought the history of the game to life. He was a huge help when I wrote my Roy Francis bio. He’s a massive loss for us all - the game is poorer for his passing.
It's amazing how strong a virus's effects can be when you pick it up from your kids. It's like it's been genetically programmed.
To paraphrase myself, knowledge is useless without the courage to use it.
Well, we have spent a generation allowing a degree to be belittled as a commodity with no other value than can be procured in dollars from the job that had better damn well be there at the end.
They can't draft and develop anybody, in any position, because the media and fanbase have no patience. It's been that way for 50 years. The Argos had the same difficulty when developing players was a CFL thing. Toronto wants big names now.
