Graphic showing that 97% of Dems, 90% of Independents and 70% or Republicans would Disapprove of the U.S. Using Military Force to take Greenland.
Apparently -- I'm not the only one who thinks invading Greenland is batshit crazy.

"Talking straight here, the big problem in this case is that the cabinet secretaries and, ostensibly, the president of the United States are not honoring the First Amendment,β Judge William G. Young said.

Minneapolis cops this could hinge on you. Be heroes to your citizens & the nation. 1:Demand ID and face recog from ICE agents "So I can call it in &verify you aren't random thugs/kidnappers." 2:Demand a RECEIPT for every person they grab. 3:demand they erase the P&O on their lying POLICE jackets.
LOL! Looks like he's doing a Hamster imitation.
I know that tune ... if he could only come up with a couple more bars, I'd have the name.
/6 ICE is a monument to totalitarianism, lawlessness, and bigotry. It should be ripped out and woodchippered root and branch and replaced with something focused on the concept that you canβt defend the rule of law by burning it down.
The cover of Every Galaxy a Circle. It's pinks and greens surrounding planet like objects
My book, Every Galaxy a Circle, comes out tomorrow. For each like I will tell a random fact about the book. I cannot guarantee they will be interesting.
Looks like @apexmag.bsky.social is set to lose 34 subscribers today if they don't renew, which works out to $918 in badly needed revenue. That would pay for 11,475 words of original fiction.
If you enjoy Apex, it would help a lot if you could subscribe. www.apexbookcompany.com/products/ape...
And only 2 weeks into January. Congrats!
Yeah ... but it's the same Tuesday over and over again.
As recently as 2015, this would have been the end of a presidency. In 2026, it's a Tuesday.
Yes -- and, for all our sakes, please hurry! (Also consider Illinois ... where I live.)
it's very clear that this is a template for how they're going to approach other cities
they do not and will not have enough people to do it everywhere all at once but if you live in a city there's a very good chance that an occupying army will show up at your door in the next few years
So... the US Department of Justice now has to be protected by black-clad masked secret police. Happy New Year.
Three years old - but even more pertinent now. Good article on Musk & Bezos grim visions for space colonization by Matthew R. Francis @bowlerhatscience.org www.scientificamerican.com/article/musk...

Story Engineering by Larry Brooks
Recently read (2nd time through) Larry Brooks "Story Engineering". The most thorough writing system I've seen. It is focused on novels but I've analyzed a couple of SF Hall of Fame short stories, using the structure (plot pts, pinch pts, etc.) to see how it works. So far --looks very promising.
My wife & I read the classics to each other after dinner -- having read Jerome K. Jerome's "Three Men in a Boat - to Say Nothing of the Dog", we're taking a break to read Connie Willis's "To Say Nothing of the Dog." Fabulous, hilarious book -- highly recommended (#hopepunk before it's time :) )
Congrats!
Self-driving cars: Depending on who manufactures it pedestrians may also have to be agile and speedy.
I love it!
Actually -- I kindof like the griffin. Our flag comes with a TV personality wrapped up in it.
Congratulations! (Great title.)
Keep educating 'em! (As an engineer, I certainly needed to be reminded :) )
Congratulations! Hopefully you'll share some thoughts (from time to time) on 16 Psyche (political, legal, technological, operational resupply, etc. (as well as Mars, the Moon and other opportunities).
Happy Birthday Niko! Just read a Philip K. Dick story, "Human Is". PKD said he believed the fundamental characteristic of a human is kindness. Altho it doesn't seem like that right now, I'll side with PKD on that one.
It is widely rumored that DJT doesn't read (...not "can't" just doesn't.) At the top of his TL;DR list would probably be: The Constitution and The Federalist Papers. He probably would not recognize any quotes from works that were foundational to democracy.
At least the Bobiverse didn't start out with a severely malfunctioning original :) (Von Neumann would have approved.)
And it also helps distinguish between cause and effect -- a notable lacuna in the dark forest of American politics.
