From what Iโve seen (in much of South Tampa, at least), $1 million covers the purchase and demolition costs of an older home, and maybe site work before spending more million(s) on constructing a McMansion. Insane down there.

This is an eye opener - whether youโre deeply religious, spiritual, questioning, agnostic, or atheist, you might enjoy this dissection of how Christian Nationalists misinterpret scripture to serve themselves and their own interests. #booksky #books

Do you have 25 Chicago albums, or more in the six to four range?
Fully support.

A handful of states are considering legislation that would similarly "lock the clocks" on the standard time. https://www.wfla.com/news/national/what-if-our-clocks-didnt-spring-forward-when-daylight-saving-time-starts/ย
I have a high tolerance for unpleasant weather, but feeling trapped by this howling cold and lingering โsnowcreteโ is finally starting to get to me.
Hope we actually get the 40 degree days forecast next week!
#booksky โThe Institute,โ by Stephen King was excellent. He never lets you forget the hope that exists in each story. I read it over a few months and by doing that, it read like bingeing a season at a time on streaming. (I know this is also streaming, havenโt seen)

Iโm not driving a car again until sometime in February, probably.
He plays the same guy in the sequel.
Definitely good at sniveling, to make his character even more abhorrent.
#booksky Just finished โFuture Boy,โ by Michael J. Fox and Nelle Fortenberry. If youโre a fan of Back to the Future or Family Ties, youโll love this play by play of Foxโs experience acting in both! www.goodreads.com/book/show/21...
I might go along with this. I donโt think Apple would, but I might!
He plays a great villain. Hereโs one Iโd like to watch one day: m.imdb.com/title/tt0099...
Happy new year from CDMX!
Actors tended to be more nervous back then. The pressure of 60s Hollywood stardom and all that.
Jk - I agree with the other commenters about the lights.
#booksky A good overview of modern history and the revolutions that have occurred globally over the last 400 years. #perspective

#booksky the ultimate dose of โkafkaesque,โ ๐ Seriously though, the seemingly (and sometimes actually) arbitrary things in life that somehow imprison us - especially the things which we canโt control or that seem inaccessible - are a key theme. #relevant, probably.

Two sisters from a small Louisiana town, both desperate to leave. Eventually, they both manage to escape - one shortly returns home after some hard luck and the other, having created a new life for herself, abandons her roots throughout most of her adult life.

#booksky i enjoyed this: Muna, recently immigrated with her son to Montreal from Lebanon in the 1980s, works for a better life for herself and her son, Omar. Meanwhile she works in sales for a weight loss outfit and has interesting conversations with her clients.

Tortilla Flat is excellent. It reminded me very much of a late friend who was our โDanny.โ And like Dannyโs friends from the story, all of us went our separate ways after he died. Sad, but thatโs life sometimes. Still, give it a read!

Mail order form for other Steinbeck novels
#booksky interesting findโฆ Iโm about to start Tortilla Flat - Iโm reading a Penguin Books copy printed in 1986. Thereโs a mail order form in the back, expected. Unsurprising. But there are no prices shown, just a reference to sales tax. What am I missing? Lay it on me if itโs obvious!
#booksky this dystopian nightmare takes place in near-present day Ireland. The take away for me was to take nothing for granted. I love some good modern fiction so Iโd recommend it. I found it a page turner!

#booksky I hadnโt read this in decades. An American classic about ordinary folksโ struggles during the Great Depression. Also, itโs on book ban lists, so all the more reason to read it!

#booksky Quite a risquรฉ novel for its time; I felt like I was reading smut I tell ya! Not really - great story and one key theme, at least in my interpretation: love and happiness donโt always come hand in hand, and finding both at the same time can be difficult!

#booksky what a harrowing tale of the journey to California from the settled Midwest in 1846! Itโs โOregon Trailโ in book form, with horses and covered wagons, as well as sickness and death along the way. This story also made me appreciate modern conveniences!

#booksky While reading this hasnโt pushed me towards communism, the theory of it is interesting. Side note: the word โMarxistโ is frequently used as an insult, but Iโm not convinced the people using it actually understand it. For them, this might be worth a read.
