Largest trap of the year to date with 14/6 - Common Plume and Early Grey were both NFY. Also Oak Beauty, Hebrew Character, 3 Clouded Drab and 7 Common Quaker.

Rosy Maple Moth? Who needs AI when Nature already provides such wonderful creatures
Shat means something else where I come from (although it can look a bit like mud) ๐คฃ
Absolutely - safely released into well vegetated areas
Despite being cold and wet by dawn the moth trap contained 2 NFY with doubles of Oak Beauty (not recorded in 2025) and Small Quaker. Also Clouded Drab, Hebrew Character and 3 Common Quaker in 9/5. B74 VC38 SK10

The loan of a FUN pheromone lure (thanks @ruthnewby.bsky.social) resulted in a new moth for the garden, Pammene giganteana. Also first butterfly of the year in the sunshine, a Comma.

What's their food plant / habitat Ruth?
Is this the biggest ever single species count on eBird? Gobsmacking photos of an estimated 2.75M Snow Geese in North Dakota (HT @evornithology.bsky.social)

55 species this morning from flying visits to Branston GPs and Whitemoor Haye. Highlights were 2 Slavonian Grebes, my first Redshank of the year, Curlews, Oystercatchers and several singing Chiffchaff, Skylark + Reed Bunting

A dinky gull feeding near the road at Borve had us doing an emergency stop this morning: a fabulous adult Bonaparte's Gull giving incredible views. Only the second record for Barra and my third self-found. #birdingscotland #RareBirdsUK
Sadly not but on my hit list
More numbers but less variety for me - March Moth and 5 CQ
Wednesday night looking promising
Best trap of the year despite the breeze with 9/5 - 4 Common Quaker, 2 Dotted Border, Hebrew Character and Yellow Horned (only my second ever) were all NFY; also Satellite.

A far more productive visit this morning to the River Tame between Ham Halls and Lea Marston - Hume's Warbler showing regularly high up in silver birches and calling occasionally. Also my first singing Chiffchaff of the spring and 4 Goosander (3m+1f) on the river.

Nice finds - still need Herald for the garden
White billed Diver in rock channel close in at Seaton Point this afternoon. Great birds, what a bow wave as it dived.

A quick note for birders visiting Whitemoor Haye from March. A road closure will mean you cannot drive through for a month, no access from Whittington end, part access from Arboretum end @staffsbirdnews.bsky.social
And breezy
Frustratingly only heard the elusive Hume's Warbler along the River Tame at Hams Hall this morning; understand it showed after I left. My second for Warwickshire. 16 Little Egret in fields in Bodymoor Heath.
