I was proud to join the Illinois Revenue Alliance, community members, and my colleagues as we introduced legislation around revenue, including billionaires tax and closing corporate loop holes that mean the ultra-wealthy run away from their obligation to our communities.
Our communities and working class families are already hurting. They need us to do this now at a time where we face incredible harms under the Trump Administration.

You all know one of the busiest times of year is when we’re in session in Springfield, trying to get a budget that actually aligns with our values, as well as other bills that will continue to protect and support our communities.
I am grateful for all of you and all of the principled and brave electeds and organizers in our spaces. I’m grateful for those who know the charge in this moment and that it’s way past time to get outside and put our bodies on the line for our people. Solidaridad. I love you all.
We will hold those responsible for murder and terror accountable and prosecute these criminals destroying our people and spreading terror in our streets. We will abolish ICE, and we will end DHS as we know it. We will do all of this because this is the world we love and deserve.

We are covered in snow and still shaking it out of our hair and boots, but I am grateful we had a chance to come out today and stand with our colleagues and community in Minnesota. From Chicago to Minneapolis, we will rise up against this.

Every year so far that I have been running, we have held a karaoke birthday party, and we’ve done it for some other holidays, too.
This year, we’re throwing a very special event to celebrate my turning 37 and to highlight our growing movement.
I know we couldn’t do this under any circumstances unless it was together, but I’m 100% sure we wouldn’t be able to do it without each other in these temperatures.
State Senator Karina Villa, who is running for Illinois Comptroller, Miguel, Jessica, and our Congresswoman, Delia Ramirez, are all champions who are doing that work and who are stepping up to serve our communities at a deeper level.

Even in the cold last weekend, we were still out on doors for this progressive slate: Miguel Alvelo-Rivera, who is running for State Representative in the 40th District, and Commissioner Jessica Vásquez, who is running for 8th District Cook County Commissioner.
