To paraphrase Santayana, "Those who do not learn from the experience of history are doomed to repeat it."

Clearly a schmuck who literally fed the EO to GPT, promoted "find me grants that this EO targets" and moved on. No coherent understanding of why they were doing what they were doing

The researchers also note that 25% of active-duty US Marines developed Long Covid "after mostly mild or asymptomatic infection."

Trivia: it got referred to as the "Spanish Flu" b/c only Spain talked about the 1918 influenza pandemic: Western wartime censorship prevented discussion of the disease.

If you’re roughly my age, it’s wild to reflect on the optimism for the future Americans felt when Obama was elected — young Americans spontaneously took to the streets to celebrate! — and contrast with what we face today. The falloff over the past 18 years is hard to process.

Guess What Moderate Democratic Voters Aren’t Anymore? Moderate. Two new polls suggest that moderate Democrats, too, want higher taxes on the rich and some measure of economic populism. Moderate isn’t what it was in 1992.

Moderate Democrats with columns in newspapers are constantly saying the Democratic Party is way too liberal on "social" issues. Moderate Democratic voters in real life do not feel this way. With some polling data from @gelliottmorris.com and @dataforprogress.org. newrepublic.com/article/2074...

This is doomerism, but i have a strong feeling we're not a community. If we had been a community, people wouldn't have let COVID go rampant.

Despair (1894), Edvard Munch: A person is standing looking down, they appear sad. They have brown hair, and are wearing a brown sweater. They are leaning on a fence and appear to be on a bridge walkway. There is a group of people in the distance. In the background is a sunset with orange, yellow, and blue colors that is set over dark blue water, with a green hillside lining the waterway. The text reads, “The Sick Times. My child and I both have Long COVID. Even in COVID-aware spaces, we are excluded because of their pre-existing disability. By eZme Fern, aka MadMaskedMxma.”

Medical facilities have handled Long COVID the same way they have the ongoing pandemic: ignore it and hope it goes away. - My child and I both have Long COVID. Even in COVID-aware spaces, we are excluded because of their pre-existing disability.

eZme Fern and their ten-year-old both have #LongCOVID, but they’ve discovered that even in COVID-aware spaces, they're excluded because of their child’s pre-existing disability. They argue that COVID-aware communities must provide safe spaces for generationally disabled families. bit.ly/4sAkobN

But we're here, now. He should suck it up, buttercup. E pluribus unum.

You start to realize the era of the nation state is long since dead and that everything that happens is wealth and oligarchical class jockeying for power between people and groups that sometimes partner and sometimes hold the global economy hostage in a perpetual game of chicken.

“Our findings redefine SARS-CoV-2 infection as a condition of long-lasting immune compromise.”

At this point, I genuinely have no ability to comprehend how is anyone not scared sh*t-less about the long-term consequences of infections, especially on kids?

Working on a q&a lecture for a class today: The story of robots is always a story about slavery. The story of LLMs labeled as AI is a story about class, and which humans pay the cost, including the physical toll on their bodies/minds, and the lack of water and electricity, so data centers can exist.

me: I don't get it. I thought I was doing a lot better than I was a few years ago. I'm like 10 times more on top of things than I used to be. How does everything feel terrible now?

The Tiny Me in OSHA-approved Hi-Vis Gear Who lives in my brain and pulls all the levers: Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances.

Me: BUT I HAVE A BULLET JOURNAL AND I MEDIATE NOW.

Tiny OSHA Me: BOSS, THE FASCISM.

I'm expecting they will announce a Season 2 animated by Titmouse.

I know your question is rhetorical, but the answer:

Because they don't want to feel shame for all the sickness and disability they have been subjected to and have inflicted on others.

If everyone took it as seriously as they should have, we would have eradicated it in 2021.

Further, when it *was* funny, it was because Demi and Ross are funny.
