Also in Maine, they’re working on a bill to prevent landlords from sharing tenant information with Fed agencies. In MA, we keep blaming migrants for the existence of homelessness. But we can change that.

In Maine, housing organizations are raising funds to pay rent and utilities for immigrant residents being detained. Right now, Worcester LUCE hub is the only volunteer run group raising $ for basic things like diapers, food, rent.
It’s also refreshing to be at a housing policy conference that doesn’t see housing justice separate from immigration justice for all.
Last night’s vote on Menkiti by most city councilors.
“I’ll sign a pledge as long as I don’t have to vote to uphold anything that benefits community & doesn’t make developers mad. Can I please still have your endorsement?”
Without* that is.
The work we do truly matters. And so does speaking the raw truth. It’s what I plan to do, anyway.
I’m here with my 14 year old son. He’s got both generational wealth, class and racial privilege. But many of his peers do not. We need to fix that. We really can’t claim a Renaissance-type Worcester unless every child has the same opportunities from which to build an equatable life.
Outline measurable outcomes for these communities?
Anyway, all things we know to be true in our own community. Who can answer the question whether our Black, brown, immigrant, indigenous and poor communities are where their white counterparts are. Are our City’s economic development policies able to
It’s also important to note: our families can’t afford housing w/out family-sustaining wages, wealth building & transfer to Black, brown & Indigenous communities. It’s not possible until lawmakers operate from this framework.
Possible to strengthen our tenant organizing & protections. Investing in our resident vs. wealthy developers, including those like Menkiti who take taxpayer $s & get away with subsidies even when they violate our basic responsible development ordinance.
The housing crisis isn’t unsolvable. It shouldn’t throw us into despair. Bcs we know the solutions. We know that investing in making existing housing affordable and safe is possible. It’s also
It’s also good to see that we can’t do this work with a solid racial analysis and strategies.
At the low income housing coalition policy forum & what strikes me the most is something we’ve always know: supply alone won’t solve us out of the crisis.
I think he imagines himself living in a tunnel all by himself. That’s his vision. It’s embarrassing tbh. Also you can’t “freeze” a state law.
So, basically, Moe Bergman wants to pause the specialized stretch code in buildings, which gets Worcester closer to meeting our emission goals?
Sir. Why are you against so much.
Thank you! We’re so excited 🥰
Cover of a book with the title: Abolition feminisms. Revolution is not abstract
My son & I are heading to D.C for the housing policy forum. Flying out of Worcester & Mayor Petty’s PA came on just as I was reading: “abolitionism is inconceivable w/out feminist, queer, trans, & femme practices of resistance.”
Why ruin my moment.
I want to highlight immigrant women& refugees, Black & brown, who are being cruelly detained, harmed and separated from their families by a fascist, racist and xenophobic federal admin.
A seventeen-year-old teen immigrant child was attacked w brute force by a few WPD officers. The women in the DOJ report have yet to receive justice or truth, too.

Thank you so much for this honor, YWCA!
I remember the only space that accepted me as a young mother w/ an infant during Board meetings. I'll keep speaking, particularly for gender & racial justice.
We have to keep organizing & speaking out no matter the cost.

Thank you so much! We keep going no matter what! ❤️
Hahhaa. I’m so glad you’ve found a style that works! And yess I can’t wait for the snow to be done. Allll of it
🫶🙏
Thank you so much for this. I can relate. Without my community support & people reminding me of how much our humanity matters, to each-other, my spirit would’ve broke.
I cut my hair today & I feel renewed. That was after I had to deal with probation things. My ego isn’t bruised. Too bad I can’t roll over all the hours of trash cleanup I did as an elected official.😏
Replacing one white supremacist xenophobe with another isn’t a successful outcome for immigrants.
The system continues unchanged, unless we change it from the ground up.
I mean, I won’t complain if I never get the water bill and it goes to Holden instead.
Folks who were in opposition felt a rotary will be detrimental to the safety of residents. It was very unclear to me - because I never heard a coherent explanation- why this group felt this way. Both former CC Pacillo & I encountered similar opposition. I'm not sure if that has subsided...
There has been significant opposition about this from a group of residents, particularly driven by the South Lennox Neighborhood group individuals.
