It's those eyes that always make him look like a Victorian orphans β€οΈ
I know they're real answer to why this didn't happen is probably that they're not pack animals, but sometimes I envision an alternate reality where humans have domesticated bears. Dogs developmentally are basically permanent wolf puppies, what if we could have little bear cubs? π
It's theorized that the reason why so many cultures have dragons is because they're a human subconscious amalgam of predators, e.g. big cats, wolves, birds of prey. There our own AI, or I guess just I, or natural I.
I agree, by boycotting I have also learned there's nothing I actually need at Target, everything can be bought elsewhere for the same or less money, it was that soothing Target atmosphere that was appealing, Target broke their own spell.
What would the ancient Egyptians have made of him?
I have a friend with a very MAGA mom who grew up in a huge controlling abusive missionary family, and she worked very hard to raise her children differently and as a consequence they're all kind progressives. It's really sad she was able to do better for them but wasn't able to heal herself.
I'm always impressed by anyone who can break a toxic cycle, for you was it something internal that rebelled or were there external lifelines or some kind of combination?
I thought this too, but I think it must speak to the level of control he has over them. I learned about research that shows that the number one predictor of being MAGA is having parents with an authoritarian parenting style so maybe not making Dad mad is the most important thing to these wretches
Even pretty young readers understand that the LOTR is about different peoples coming together to defeat evil in a way they can't do on their own but all of these guys are like yes surveillance is the key, Saruman was right; they lack tools for understanding fiction or choose to aggressively misread.
This reporting matters.
Portlanders deserve transparency about how power is exercised behind the scenes at City Hallβ& who is influencing decisions that affect our city.
I was sent here by working people in East PDX who are tired of being shut out of their own govt. Iβm determined to change that.
Also attention all astronauts: If you are a friend of Gonzo's make yourself known!
But not you Katy Perry π€
Attention all Gonzo Australian friends: watch out for Tyra Banks! That ice cream is hot!
I have a friend from OK and I mentioned you to them, and they were like "oh yeah everyone in Oklahoma knows about Gonzo". So you're famous locally and internationally. Have you figured out your friend who is farthest away? (An astronaut perhaps π€π»)
β€οΈ yes I love my Butters! He's a sweet baby angel, and he and his brother Manny have a very Garfield/Nermal dynamic. I'm sure if Melissa and Ellen hadn't met Lee and Billy they'd have cats they adore too π€£
TBF that season of Homeland was a long time ago
It's funny because I was almost exactly the same age as the characters in My So-called Life but at 15 I identified far more with the single career women of thirtysomething (And I still do!). And it was so experimental and creative, so grounded then could be so fanciful.
As a teenager who identified strongly as a mixture of Melissa and Ellen I remember his performance so clearly. Very sad to hear of his passing π
Blurry in background is white brunette woman wearing glasses, in the foreground is soft fluffy orange tabby cat headrested on her chest
No filter, 47-year-old white woman dark brown hair wearing only lip gloss and her new prescription sunglasses that are orange frames with amber lenses
Butters being a sweetheart and me in my new prescription sunglasses!
International students were very involved, when the university threatened their visa status over striking it only made them double down in their support of the strike. We won SEVIS fee reimbursement, an issue we wouldn't have even known about without that involvement.
At UofO we had 1 staff member for 1500 members. When I was an education PhD student I talked to nearly every math grad, doing weekly door knocking until I found folks willing to step up and be stewards for their department, most became full members and went on strike. YOU ARE THE UNION not staff.
Well don't tell him it's also going to be daylight savings time too! Then he'll really be mad
Two cats on top of a cushion on top of a cushion on top of sheepskins on top of a bench sit together the orange cat is behind his eyes are closed The smaller cow cat also has his eyes closed
To paraphrase Varys from a game of thrones, power lies where cats believe it lies
White cow cat with black on his head like his bangs are covering his eye, is vigorously looking the head of a larger orange tabby cat
Manny, a classic cow cat, weighs approximately 4 lb less than his adopted brother, yet dominates him in grooming. He grows more powerful everyday (Butters' ears grow cleaner everyday)
Has anyone ever called him out on it *besides* Ben Affleck?
Yes exactly, but it also gives it a very modern feeling. He's not petty or jealous or even threatened. It's obviously a very rich text but the net effect is feeling very modern and accessible, their clothes are different but they feel accessible to us as people we can understand.
Just showed it to a friend last night, we're both Union organizers and it's so moving to see how Victor Laszlo's convictions move Rick, who then moves Louie. Few of us are Victor Laszlo, but we can still inspire others by our choices. Also Laszlo pretty mature and cool about the affair.
Just showed Casablanca to a friend last night, and he was really surprised by how funny it is. Claude Rains is absolutely hilarious.
I probably be talking about how much I loved Hamnet especially since The Eternals was the second worst movie going experience of my life, I wanted to throw a blanket over Kumail and rescue him and everyone else from it because I felt so embarrassed for them.
I think in addition to best acting there should be an award for most acting, and often the person who does the most acting does win for best acting. Ethan Hawke does the most acting in a movie in 2025. This is not a slight, it's just a fact, in fact it might be the most acting anyone has ever done.
