On Saturday at Revolution Hall in Portland, OR, actor Michael Shannon and rocker Jason Narducy delivered a sprawling tribute to R.E.M. with their all-star band that included sit-ins from Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey. REVIEW:

Buck stayed with them as they did two more encores of REM songs, including the kickass cover of “Toys in the Attic” from DLO.
Just a tremendous show and one of the best times I’ve had in years.

Saturday I had the chance to see Michael Shannon (yes, the actor) and band perform REM’s Fables of the Reconstruction for its 40th anniversary. Shannon was great, the band was tight, and Revolution Hall was a terrific venue.
