I don't begrudge MLAs this overdue raise. But it's hard to stomach when @cupescfp.bsky.social education workers who keep our system afloat might have to strike AGAIN just to inch closer to a living wage.

The purpose of the Office of the Auditor General is to "provide independent assurance to the people of Nova Scotia that public money is spent properly and provides value". If this bill becomes law, the current gov would be able to fire the AG on a whim. Critical reports would never be made public.

A gov unwilling to be subjected to scrutiny is a gov I am deeply suspicious about but I suppose I must be one of those "special interest groups" they keep talking about. You know, because of my "special interest" in democratic process & govs being publicly accountable.
