Also Brazil has an over abundance of Ethanol. Dirt cheap. I believe in ClearFlame tech. Product development execution squandered idea

I worked for a now defunct start up ClearFlame after 30years at a major diesel engine mgfr. Founded by two young Stanford PhD. Their research may be available. Modified fuel injectors (+30%) and air handling to comp ignite E98. Smart but did not spend their money wisely. Same power and $/mile

Ethynol is less expensive per mile in a compression ignition engine than diesel which pays for he conversion kit. You could make the same argument about the wide availability of battery chargers that could charge a line haul truck battery in a resonable time.

You may be right. My argument is that to get to 0 emissions it has to be incremental to give manufacturers and economy time to adapt. This requires a strong EPA(not this one) to push, but if disruptions and costs are so high that the markets can't bear then it hurts progress to that end.

Well, if you are not pumping a fossil fuel out of the ground and releasing carbon dioxide but instead using a plant that is in the atmospheric carbon cycle you are not adding net CO2 to the atmosphere.

I disagee. There is no battery trucks that have the range of IC engines. They are also expensive that make them impractical. Ethanol tech could be a transitional tech to reduce CO2 until batteries have the same performance and cost. Ultimate goal is no IC engines but do it in a practical way.

I worked for a start-up company that was developing technology to convert diesel engines to ethanol engines. Ethanol is renewable, not a fossil fuel and reduces carbon footprint. I'm not questioning you energy equivalence, just how do you get that energy into a line-haul truck given battery tech.

Such a preventable tragedy that touched me deeply. I was a graduate student at the time studying Mech Engr. Decision makers didn't listen to the engineers who recommended against launching in the cold weather due to potential fuel tank o-rings failing
