The UK Govt has published a new National Cancer Plan. It aims to make England a global leader in cancer care by 2035, and improve access to care, quality of life and survival outcomes.

Today’s decision on screening is profoundly concerning. Black men and men with a family history still won’t be offered screening, despite facing some of the highest risks and worst outcomes.

Early detection saves lives and it’s vital that access to screening and support is available.
Prof Stephen Langley attended a House of Commons meeting hosted by Prostate Cancer Research, launching a campaign for a UK-wide targeted prostate cancer screening programme. Building on our work testing 18,300 at-risk men in Surrey and Sussex, The Prostate Project continues to lead the way.

I am pleased to support the campaign for prostate cancer screening. Prostate Cancer Research estimates that an annual investment of £25m to deliver targeted screening would mean an estimated 1,254 years of life saved for the target groups each year.

So good to drop in to a packed out @pcr-uk.bsky.social event yesterday on behalf of my constituents. It is clear men are dying needlessly because we don't screen for prostate cancer. A targeted programme for those at highest risk could save thousands of lives. I'm so glad to support the campaign!

Prostate cancer remains the most common cancer in men, it is high time the Government worked to reduced these statistics.
Today, I met with @pcr-uk.bsky.social to discuss prostate cancer screening and their new report.
Later this year, the UK National Screening Committee will consult on prostate cancer screening - I would encourage everyone in Southgate and Wood Green impacted by prostate cancer to share their views.
