Yeah, ultimately organizing and voting in droves is the only way to have any substantial impact. Unfortunately we're stuck with this for a while, so making my displeasure known is all I can think to do.. Even if all it accomplishes is keeping my sanity for 3 more years

How Another Attack on Climate Science Fits a Larger Truth-Suppressing Effort In light of yet another blow to American leadership in science, my views on an administration more concerned with political expediency than real problem solving

I had to get my thoughts out on the NCAR news, and 1200 words is a bit over the character limit here.. So I took my first shot at writing on Substack about how terrible this decision is. Give it a read/share if you have a moment, and write your representatives!

A map showing a cockamamie excuse for a bus route in San Antonio, Texas. It would take 2 hours to travel 10 miles, including 2 transfers and a 22 minute walk along a highway.

It gets harder to come back to Texas every time I leave

I'm grateful to @ametsoc.org for the travel support they just awarded me for their Science Policy Colloquium in DC this June!

I look forward to meeting policy leaders and determining how I, as an early-career scientist during the next administration, might help revive our government's support.

Oh I was pointing out that it looks like they switched Moderate and Enhanced. Seems like even NWS mets have trouble keeping them straight, but it's possible I'm misinterpreting

Perhaps further evidence here in support of
@sean-ernst-wx.bsky.social's work on the interpretation of SPC risk categories? (journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal...)

Either way I hope everyone across the Southeast stays safe this weekend!

Do you want to do something about the chaos happening at the federal level? Have you considered calling but are unsure what to say? Have you never called and find it intimidating? I'm going to write a short HOW-TO to help! The more of us that call, the more effect we have! A short thread! 1/

Now that I’ve reflected on my time at #AMS2025, it’s safe to say it was the best one yet!

From my first annual meeting talk, to chairing a session before hundreds, and making so many new connections, it’s not something I thought possible a few years ago. Can’t wait to see everyone again next year!
