The festivsl closes with sn audiovisal performance by Piia Rinne and Miia Rinne. Piia Rinne describes her sound as collage experiments. In other fields of art, she works with costumes and visual material for performances. Miia Rinne is an artist who works with experimental film and video.
Finn Loxbo is a guitarist with a focus on free and structured improvisation. His music is usually on either side of two dynamic extremes: quiet acoustic or very loud.
Finally we have three concerts at Contemporary Art Space Kutomo Saturday night. Shakeeb Abu Hamdan plays an unorthodox setup of drums, bells and cymbals which he augments and amplifies with transducers, microphones, pitch and rhythmic modulation effects, modified megaphones and other devices.
Saturday 1/11 starts with Lisa Ullén’s matinee performance at the Sibelius Museum grand piano at 2pm. Ullén’s music is characterized by numerous layers, in which different textures and rhythms intertwine, exploring forms of jazz, contemporary music, and many other genres.
This year’s Himera festival starts on Friday 31/10, opening with Finnish free jazz quartet Oaagaada at Dynamo’s attic in Turku.

At the threshold towards winter, this year's Himera Festival brings two days of experimental music, presenting free jazz ensemble Oaagaada, composer and pianist Lisa Ullén, musician and artist Shakeeb Abu Hamdan, guitarist Finn Loxbo and sound artist and designer Piia Rinne.

We are sorrry to inform that Annea Lockwood will not be able to travel to Finland next week due to unexpected health issues. The event is cancelled and ticket payments will be returned. We are hoping to make a new attempt to present her work in Finland in the future.

For Jitterbug, Lockwood will be joined by Livia Schweizer (flute), Mark Reid Bulatovič (guitar) and Marja Ahti (electronics, amblified objects).
We're proud and excited to invite the amazing Annea Lockwood to Turku July 26th. Lockwood will perform her 6-channel piece Jitterbug (2007), constructed from the sounds of water insects, a graphic score and three additional musicians, as well as two tape works, Buoyant (2023) and Dusk (2012).
