A gentle reminder for anybody frustrated with poor service/customer care.
Customer care representatives don't deserve abusive behaviour or language. The work they do is exhausting; listening to complaint after complaint daily. Be kind - courtesy and politeness go a long way.
Oh that’s great news. Delighted to hear it!
On today's pod, parcel guru (no really) @caitrionaredmond.bsky.social on your Christmas parcel woes... the collapse of Fastway... and your rights when things go wrong

Here's a little reminder of our starter pack, celebrating #IrishDesign.
Lots of lovely things to buy, and you will feel all squishy inside for supporting small Irish business.

Ahhh thanks T, it's always a work in progress but it is my happy place. xxx
I’ve written an opinion piece about the Tracker Scandal in the @irishexaminer.bsky.social today. Many thanks to @deshocks.bsky.social for the opportunity. www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...
On the show today: @henrymckean.bsky.social on (bad) eating manners; The real climate con job; @caitrionaredmond.bsky.social on built-in obsolescence; @maleallyship.bsky.social on AI girlfriends; @jamesproclaims.bsky.social reviews 'I Love LA' 'Down Cemetery Road' & 'Game Of Wool'..
In other news, water is wet and snow is cold. If you watch the documentary tonight and next week you'll get a better idea of who/which organisations were responsible for the scandal
Superb piece by Dave Hannigan on Ireland’s number one shitehawk 👊
Marvellous, brilliant piece of writing.
From marking 10 years of the Paris Climate agreement yesterday to learning the history of DIAS at Dunsink Observatory tonight for Dublin History Week. Back to the allotment in the morning for me!
If you’re talking about Irish duck then a possible answer could be the returns from feather by-products goes towards higher production cost. Otherwise I’m not sure!
Absolutely I agree. Food ends up at the bottom of the list and gets squeezed because it’s paid from “disposable” income. I’m not disputing food inflation at all. 😉
Just because the rate of food inflation has eased, doesn't mean it's negative inflation. It's still increasing, albeit at a slower rate. Sigh. The CSO CPI figures today are not good news for those struggling with the cost of food at the moment. #costofliving
"Pregnant women and mothers already beat themselves up endlessly about how their children turn out; this is what makes the latest damaging comment from Donald Trump, connecting paracetamol during pregnancy to autism, so reprehensible."

My research on the increase in grocery prices of budget food, North & South, of the border takes up all of Page 8 of @irishexaminer.bsky.social today. I think it really displays why we are all struggling with the cost of groceries at the moment. www.irishexaminer.com/news/spotlig...
I’ve temporarily taken the paywall off this article, in the hopes that it can raise awareness about how to push back effectively against Trump—and also how to understand the world we’re heading toward: competitive authoritarianism.
After seeing the best offer for 100g Easter eggs was 3-for-4 & with @deshocks.bsky.social annual chats about packaging, I’m going to make a conscious choice this year. Book tokens for the niblings it is instead. Brain food feels more appropriate lately!
“A colossal missed opportunity” - a clear message in a new report from from Ireland’s fiscal and climate advisory councils.
Instead of taking action to cut emissions (making energy cleaner & more secure, & diversifying farming) we face €26 billion in compliance costs to meet EU targets
I asked a local window glazer would he consider repair. I gave him the window sizes and manufacturer. He had a replacement hinges with him when he visited. He suggested replacing the seals in a few years time. I think I’ll take him up on that to prolong their usefulness.
BER is not always an effective measure of sustainability. My house is rated B1. It would be A-rated with newer windows. I just don’t believe it’s sustainable to get rid of perfectly grand windows. 🤷🏻♀️
I got a quote to upgrade my (double glazed) windows. Only €14,000 😱
My windows still work but are a bit drafty. So instead I paid €150 to have my hinges checked and replaced if necessary. Job done. No more drafts. I saved a lot.
TLDR: the best product is the one you have that works. Repairing rocks
I ordered a family meal kit and was given 2 small spuds for a family of 4. I kid you not. I thought it was a joke, mailed them and they were clear they thought that was the correct portion size. Very little info on where their ingredients came from too.
Of course they announced they were going to close the location where the staff did a sit in. www.bbc.com/news/article...

In knots laughing at a certain influencer advertising a well-known meal kit box without even showing the food. Don't waste your money folks. I have reviewed it in the past (paid for myself) and it was horrendous. Not to mention the workers rights issues (transpired after my review). #GoodbyeFresh
