We made a law today! My bill HB 1687 to bring social housing developers into the Housing Cooperation Law — an idea brought to me by Andrew Lewis and @houseourneighbors.bsky.social and championed by so many of you — is now a LAW #waleg

A lack of increasingly wild lobbyist emails! A lack of emails period!
Honestly, I’m really delighted about this because it means so many advocates who brought this idea to me and made this possible can be there! #waleg
It’s that time of year when I put on Jill Scott and start packing up my home in Olympia. Very excited to get back to my home home in Seattle and to have hopefully an amazing Seattle summer prioritizing lake swims
A little humble brag from official side me. Continuing the work to make Washington more just, safe, prosperous, and healthy!

If you’re interested in good quality reporting on what’s happening in Olympia from reporters who are here on the ground full time (there’s only like one or two left, alas!) I always think Washington State Standard has great info.

Not sure why the Seattle Times is so committed to killing housing in the city but it’s wearing a bit thin.
God, what an embarrassment.
“today, the world was just an address, a place for me to live in, no better than alright. But here you are, and what was just a world, is a star, tonight”
It’s fine, Republicans don’t care about that anymore.
There’s a pretty robust case to make that the Iran Hostage crisis of 1979, the revolution itself, and the policies of the Iranian government towards the US
since, was all blowback from the CIA’s decision to overthrow Mossadegh in 1953. www.cnn.com/2013/08/19/p...
As a historian, I'd just like to remind the politicians who follow me that it is not, in fact, 2003 anymore and the current GOP war in the Middle East is not, in fact, even remotely popular.
So if you're a weathervane who just tries to do what's already popular, full-throated opposition is it!
Yup. This is real.
Bari Weiss's The Free Press is really doing it.
When I saw the news story about the girls school being bombed, one of my first thoughts was about how unlike American physics, Iranian physics is 50% women at the undergrad level and how some of those girls who had been murdered were going to be physicists one day
It is curious because it’s hard to do three chords and the truth when you’re just….faking it?
A frivolous timeline cleanse to say, Colman Domingo is a king
This is horrendous.
Eye roll.
This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Won’t
She was thrilled to become the first teacher from a government-sponsored school in India to get a Fulbright exchange award to learn from U.S. schools. People asked two questions that clouded her joy.

On top of all the reporting that this war of aggression was planned well in advance, it seems that the reporting also indicates that the US political leadership are quite literally too stupid to understand basic diplomacy. I mean literally not smart enough.
My thoughts are with the families of these servicemembers, and their loved ones.
And I continue to pray for the safety of every servicemember and the recovery of those wounded in these operations.
May God protect our troops.
They did a much better job selling the WMD story back in the day than today’s version.
This. Trump sees a chance to distract from Epstein and to play the petty tyrant, but there are real people — Americans and Iranians — with families and hopes and dreams and beating hearts like ours that pay the price.
Good soup!
Yes! If you are between the ages of 25 and 65 you already qualify for the working families tax credit! But under the millionaires tax bill, that would be expanded to anyone 18 or over.
That’s the only proposal I know of right now, but if we have the revenue, more is possible!
The amendments posted for tomorrow’s executive session repeals the sales tax on services in 2029 but also eliminates the early expiration of the B&O tax surcharge on big businesses
Blue sky, tell me: What do you want to know about the millionaires tax proposal? And are you following @balanceourtaxcode.bsky.social ?
I don’t have a lot of nice things to say about church bureaucracy normally but I will allow this.
