You’re being obstinate. Language has meaning and nuance. ‘Rookie mistakes’ is a sympathetic and forgiving phrase.
The obvs intent is that Salo will a) make fewer errors with more exposure to NHL speed/situations and b) he will also make more and more elite plays. Rather than a lazy observation, I’d suggest it’s a decent assessment of skill and potential.
