The threshold for the provincial homeowner grant for residential properties in B.C. has been set at $2.075 million for 2026, providing modest property tax relief to eligible homeowners.
This year the BC government set the wealth test for the HOG at above $2M, while renters get income tested at around $65k (adjusted net family income) for the full tax credit and get less money than the HOG for e.g. my condo.
(Yes, this is my annual call to get rid of the HOG)
We agree with the girlfriend of 27 year-old Liam Johnston who was killed on the job: “We believe that this situation warrants serious charges to be laid. [...] Ultimately, Liam would be here today if different choices had been made by his employer.”
New election? This gov’t hasn’t fulfilled its #BCed promises from the last one. Now public education is being shortchanged at the bargaining table. Students deserve the same level of investment as the BCGEU contract.

There is a pattern emerging in labour negotiations: do not bargain if you are management and force the union to go on strike. Union goes on strike, becomes the bad guy, then the Liberal government steps in with binding arbitration, and the public forgets the labour dispute happened at all.
