Sorry, I know I haven't been around for a while! Got the first two 'completed' squads ACTUALLY completed and based though, just in time for Christmas!

Instead of actually finishing anything, much like Perturabo, I continue to procrastinate by oil washing another squad of tac marines and delaying doing basing yet another day.

I'm one of the rare freaks that actually enjoys batch painting/army painting and gets freaked out by having to paint single minis...
Unless you mean the sculpt and yeah, they're like almost 20 years old.
It's Warhammer Fantasy/Old World. They rank up in big blocks. You use like 15-20 swordmasters in a block of 5x3 or 5x4.
Thank you for taking the time to write this up for me! I've been casually looking over the material for a long time and browsing the Necromunda section of various shops but could. never pull the trigger because I didn't know what to get. Now I'm eyeing up some of the gangs. Ugh, darn yoU! ๐
Sorry to take more of your time but, where do you start? They've got like a dozen supplements. Do you need them all to play? Or are they optional for different factions etc?
Thanks for noticing! It was really hard for me to not splash a grime wash over them. I normally like oil washes and lots of dirt and grime but for Fantasy I feel like it should be cleaner for some reason and the High Elves especially so!
This makes me want to get into Necromunda, which I really shouldn't, I've got too much unpainted as it is!
Great start! Are you interested in getting more? Different faction?
It's a great hobby to flex your creative juices, even if you don't THINK you're creative.
Thanks! Glad you like my painting.
Based.
Not much time for hobby this week so here's a pic of my WIP Swordmasters of Hoeth for the High Elves. Yes, yes I KNOW... MORE unbased mini's. I promise I'll base something soon!

I miss how easy mod sharing was. This was... Painful to set up.
Puerto Rican X African-American.
Thanksgiving holiday project update: Scorpius assembled. MK III Command company honor guard assembled. Now to work up the courage to prime and paint them with 30 other projects on the back burner...

As is tradition.
Those people are nuts though. They go to SOOO much effort! They do better paint jobs on their interior spaces than I can do on a presentation piece! I just have this weird thing about not leaving them in grey, bare plastic (or with just a black prime or whatever).
That includes the spray prime, wash and paint drying times.
Because I know it will be almost totally hidden (unless the ramp is down). I set myself a limit of one hour to paint these interiors. Here's a pic of a different Rhino before I glued it together.
Another week, another Deimos Rhino pattern vehicle under construction with a (quickly) painted interior that no one will ever see, as it will be totally hidden when it's finished...
I mean, I know it's there I guess.

I'm sure it would be more controllable with more practise (and more clean-up) but yeah it's hard to get REPEATABLE results more than anything. It would work much better on terrain or over larger areas I think.
Oh, no! The tusks are my patented 'BONE JUICE' (I stole it from somewhere and forgot who I got it from). Paint in white. Then mix 3:1 Contrast Medium to Skeleton horde. Wash in the front of the horn/bone and the base. Repeat 2 or 3 times to build up contrast!
You know... I DO have some blood effect paints I've never used...
Works much better if you leave it to dry and 'reactivate' it with water and move it around with the brush to remove it from unwanted areas/high spots and to make it pool in the recesses. Smells like it's giving me cancer. Need a lot more practise with it but it well be worth experimenting! (2/2)
Thoughts on Dirty Down Rust, Yellow Rust and Verdigris. REALLY tricky to apply. Need to be shaken for like 5 solid minutes or a good minute on a vortex mixer. Takes a few 'layers' to build up effect. (1/2)
Limited hobby time today, didn't do much. Been meaning to give Dirty Down Yellow/Rust & Verdigris a go on my Black Orcs after seeing videos of it. Only champion and the standard bearer atm. Thoughts?

Ah! So speedpaint/contrast over metallics! I'll try that sometime, it looks like 'candy' metal you see cars. Very cool.
Oh wow! That metallic blue looks AMAZING! How did you pull that off?
