AHA–OAH Statement on Executive Order “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K–12 Schooling” The American Historical Association and the Organization of American Historians have released a joint statement on the presidential executive order “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K–12 Schooling.”

“American history is complicated & fascinating; learning about our past should stimulate discussion & debate rooted in evidence…for that to happen, we must let our teachers do what they do best: teach without interference or ideological tests.” -AHA, OAH

A friendly suggestion: rather than focusing on other events today, I've been listening to MLK speeches this morning, & they're amazing—& very uplifting. As a start, I'd recommend his "Where Do We Go From Here" speech of 1967, which has a lot to say about love & power www.youtube.com/watch?v=3e0C...

Appreciate @derekhunt.bsky.social for sharing flowchart for deciding when to use ChatGPT.

Takeaway: expertise and content knowledge are essential for capacity to evaluate ChatGPT’s output. Maybe an invitation to reconsider ways we develop objectives for skills & content as we design learning?

Such an important move to make with students. Emphasize the importance of asking the right question as much as pursuing the answers.

OK, folks. By popular demand I went ahead and created another starter pack for K-12 History and Social Studies teachers because you can never follow too many teachers. Thanks for sharing.
