Love seeing Ellipsus grow! The main obstacle that's keeping me from switching over right now are 1) I don't want to have to add people as collaborators to let them comment (clunky! Inconvenient & non-intuitive for them), and 2) i need a track-changes feature. Hope to see these one day :)

Can't take credit for ebook/interior design on that one! Direct all props to the @tordotcompub.bsky.social team, they did great work :))

This whole thread but this in particular. The rules of the game have not changed and will never change: All you have to do is tell a good story.

Well, and be patient, persistent, and resilient. You gotta earn success honestly if you want to keep it.

So there's the frame narrative (in a fun & engaging style of the academic mode), and then there is the framed narrative (translations of a ancient guy's bitchy journals). Two different modes of Extreme Voice Shenanigans, yeah.

Depends how you define romance.

On one hand, it's def NOT a book of the Romance Genre, and should NOT be recced to people that way.

On the other hand, it's a PhD candidate's dissertation, and getting a PhD is a radical act of *breathtaking*, sometimes world-changing love. bsky.app/profile/gusu...

Footnotes, block quotes, a fake bibliography, a real bibliography, at least two narrators, a Q&A section, and varied typefaces (plain, italics, bold, etc) to indicate how much handwriting-codeswitching one of the narrators is doing

69 New Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror Books Coming Your Way in February The shortest month is hardly light on new releases, with new titles from Matt Dinniman, Nnedi Okorafor, Edward Ashton, Stephen Graham Jones, and many more.

It's also a support system for folks like me, and authors, and publishers. It's not much, nothing is, but it's there and it's important that it's appreciated, and that people see how it can be used. Maybe they can use it too. Here's the piece.

Getting VERY close to being finished with the revision pass of CONSIDERED APOCRYPHAL (the Fantasy-Romans Fictional Academia book), so AMA about it before I send it off to my agent and get all secretive and discreet about it πŸ‘€

JK Rowling is a proud bigot and literally uses her money to bankroll transphobic groups in the UK. Do you really call this journalism? You call yourselves journalists? This is fucking embarrassing.

Graham Linehan proves the point that trans liberationists have been saying from the start:

If you'll permit dehumanising and stripping the rights of trans people, you will dehumanise and strip the rights of anyone on a long enough timeline.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

Here's a regular white guy (literally "Chad") not a protester. because, "It seemed pointless, or just a way for people to expiate their sense of guilt." Chad witnessed something shattering. And, that all changed in a moment.

Excellent article!

Like, so much of winning or losing legal trials comes down to Who Has Their Ducks In A Row -- this is one duck.

Yes, they're going to do it anyway, but having this establishes a VERY CLEAR paper trail that could help with later prosecution. Now it's outright impossible for their eventual defense attorneys to say, "Your honor, my client was innocently unaware of blah blah blah."

Hell yeah. If this was trench warfare (and it kind of is), we just gained about two yards. Every little bit counts.

A cartoon of a news report. The picture shows a government official doing a press conference flanked by goons.
The headline reads β€œA man attacked federal bullets with his body”
Underneath the picture is a quote saying β€œthose bullets had families”
