The Columbia River Gorge. Once, full of salmon and local cultures that had traditions of sharing abundance from their verdant home. Once, an adventure base for “outdoorsy” people of the Comfort Age. Several times, ravaged by wildfires. This huge gorge was carved out to host these eras by a prehistoric apocalypse. Ice age melt busted open a glacial wall holding back a massive inland lake, projecting forth a mile deep cascade. The wall of water crashed through, practically down to bedrock, for hundreds of miles, all the way to the ocean.
