Episode 43 of the Kilauea eruption is a BEAST. They just zoomed out and uhhh this may be on its way to setting a record for tallest lava fountains. What on Earth. ππ

Official map from NOAA depicting the relative rank of winter 2025-2026 temperatures at a county level across the contiguous U.S. Many counties in the western and central U.S. are depicted in dark red color, signifying record-warmest winter. All other counties in the west and central U.S. are depicted in dark orange colors, signifying a "near record warm" rank.
The official NOAA stats out this week confirm that winter 2025-26 was the warmest on record across a huge portion of the western and central U.S., which has contributed to extremely low mountain snowpack & worsened the CO River crisis. Meanwhile, record March heat is in forecast.
This is a really good analysis of the recent restructuing of the Artemis Program and how big of a change it was from the preexisting plan put in place by Congress 16 years ago bhavyalal.substack.com/p/class-3-co...

I really, really would strongly prefer to switch to Standard Time year-round.
Daylight Saving Time is a public health hazard - the fiasco in the 70s proved year-round DST to be miserable.
All it takes is political will to make it happen.
Democrats could run on ending DST to great success.

We are under Bortle 3.5 skies every cloudless night on our front porch stargazing & watching meteor showers or lunar eclipses.

Hope you get better soon!
The far right has never been a fan of DEI, particularly in popular entertainment.
Less than 14 years later, the German far right would be rampaging across Europe.
Same!
This is rad!
Cartoon drawing featuring a woman in bright red bloomers and a men's-style blazer and bow tie riding a bicycle in the foreground, and an old man with a pitchfork losing hat and pitchfork in surprise. Over his head are the words, "What it will come to". At the bottom it says, "Then they WILL be satisfied".
