BREAKING: As many as 150 U.S. troops have been wounded in the war with Iran, according to sources familiar—far higher than the Pentagon’s publicly disclosed figure of just 8 seriously wounded troops. The true toll of this war is already far worse than the public has been told. (Reuters)

It’s a War With Iran, Not an “Intervention” Elected officials are desperate to characterize the U.S. war with Iran as anything but. Don’t let them.

Elected officials desperately want to cast our war with Iran as an “intervention” or “operation.” Don’t let them get away with it.

Opinion | Leave the Kurds Out of It

Hasty redeployment of US missiles from South Korea to Middle East leaves Seoul rattled South Korea’s president has sought to reassure the public that the country is able to deter threats from the North

The move..has triggered doubts over Trump’s security commitment to South Korea & warnings that the..North could..ramp up pressure..Why, critics are asking, did South Korea invest so much political capital in a defence system that could one day be removed?

In the present context, however, of an investigation into allegations
of corrupt conduct, we are not so much concerned with Diceyan
theory of ministerial accountability and Cabinet solidarity as with
personal obligations of honesty and good faith. Thus, although
Mr Morrison may have been responsible to Cabinet for the failings of
DSS – in particular for DSS’ failings in not preventing the
shortcomings of the NPP and checklist – it by no means necessarily
follows that Mr Morrison was personally at fault for not detecting the
failings of DSS or that he set out to act dishonestly or in bad faith.
The question of any personal shortcoming requires consideration of
the system and circumstances of ERC’s operation at the time of its
adoption of the NPP.

The passages clearing Morrison of fault are extraordinary

NACC says Morrison is technically "responsible" as cabinet Minister, but not "personally at fault"

If responsibility exists without consequence...then what does "ministerial accountability" even mean anymore?

So disappointed to hear Scott Morrison hasn’t met consequences over Robodebt. He never met consequences over Higgins, over Sportsrorts, over anything! How does he constantly get away with both being in charge but also taking no responsibility?

Of course it does!

The NACC was specifically designed by the duopoly - the LNP IPA and Labor - just for exactly this outcome

The duopoly exists to preserve power at any cost

Even at the cost of justice

Even at the cost of ignoring the thousands of suicides by elected govt HUNTING citizens down

Schatz: We don’t know for sure, but the likely bombing of an elementary school with one of our Tomahawk missiles is not a one-off mistake. It is the result of a change in policy so that the United States has way looser rules of engagement — way more tolerance for civilian harm.
