(I apologised to both Claude and Chatty)
I just spent 3 hours fighting with code, swearing at both Claude and ChatGPT in ways that do not make me feel proudπ . I ended up tracing the error back to one late night that I went to bed thinking "I need to do X tomorrow morning", and then I never did X. I guess I won't be billing for that timeπ
For this field there will be an option C in a couple of months!
What is silly is that normally if you want to find all (or almost all) grants on a scientific topic you need to:
A) pay a chunky price to a closed scientific database
B) piece together information across multiple APIs.
For most fields of research there is not a C) just check the open grant database
I am about to start a "year in review"-type project, that besides a manuscript will produce a resource for the UK scientific and funding community to find all active research projects in the field. I have been itching so badly to do this work: project in discussion since February!
Oh thank you! In fact the likely fake account DM'd me this morning π
I'm not going to miss the "7 ways to achieve financial freedom. Number 5 is my favourite", nor the "OpenAI just killed Google" posts. As much as I love to learn new things about AI and coding, the bro-ish culture around it and the race to the bottom of content creation was beginning to rot my brain
It's been only a couple of days, and I am so happy to be here! The old community of dementia/neuroscience researchers, plus a new one of meta-researchers. Research culture, trusted news sources, people being witty all over my timeline.
