Just saw a rerouted W train go by. Surely the more irrelevant of all NYC subway trains.
Need something to feel better this morning? Here are 30 good Elton John songs.
One of the hardest parts about going through a political awakening is feeling like youβve finally discovered your forever truth rather than just getting swept up in the endless ever-changing cycles of politics.
if you believed this you should be fired on the spot because you are one of the dumbest people alive
Bemused emotional detachment, where one pretends not to have a serious point of view on anything, is a terrible way to go through life. But I'm gonna do it forever re: changing the clocks. I think less of you if you have a strong take either way. Be cool and demure, like me
You canβt even pin this one on Trump β Americans decided these officersβ lives didnβt matter when they re-elected him.
The US Grant of the dumbest era of American history.
NANCY MACE: What is a woman? Have you learned that lesson?
WALZ: I'm the governor of Minnesota. I'm not here to be a prop for your obsession.
Iβve seen enough. Not about the election. Just generally.
look man, I get why you would vote for Platner in the primary, I would vote for him in the general, but this performative sneering is so fucking dumb. the guy is a Soviet military parade of red flags at this point, donβt insult peopleβs intelligence by acting like itβs incomprehensible why the worry
Iβm a couple more Bluesky posts away from starting to think Trump is acting hypocritical re Iran.
Also: at least one former Premier League player with a fatal flaw in his game (too selfish, too short, canβt shoot)
Book publishing-levels of impossible to decipher job tiers
For all of Bluesky's culture problems -- and I think we can be honest and note that it does have them -- I really do find it intensely distressing how many people have chosen to actively remain on X, a website basically explicitly designed to drag everyone who uses it to the right
This controversy is odd to me. I read the story like the NYMag story from 2020 that simulated what would happen to someone who got COVID. (Metatext, Bruenig is fairly well-known and I assumed if one of her kids died she'd have said so)
Counterpoint: The story of the Trump era is in part a story of the collapse of any idea of public civic virtue, and the left needs to respond by reclaiming the language of character and morality. For many, this moral language is going to come from religion, and we need to be comfortable with that.
So dangerous. It's one thing for these people to try to harm or kill their own children, but it's really another for them to insist that they be allowed to harm or kill our kids, too.
What happened in November 2024 was one of the great acts of collective stupidity in American historyβand the almost hourly reminders of just how catastrophic it was make me wonder if thereβs anything that can even be βrecoveredβ (whatever that may mean) or if America is just permanently fucked.
A lot of parents, too! Summed up by this sketch. youtu.be/-wQhY5CMMl4?...
I genuinely do not have strong feelings about Will Stancil except I am now strongly negatively polarized against his most vociferous haters
this one hit too close to home
Heβs just describing The American Dream but youβre supposed to hate it for some reason
the people at the top have been exposed. now we watch as the whole system comes crumbling down.
i said, now we watch as the whole system comes crumbling down
*kicks system* stupid system. start crumbling

Iβm just so impressed with Minnesota. Both how sustained their pushback has been and the fact that theyβre doing all this in arctic cold. Setting a high bar for the rest of us.
Huh, to me it feels like 7 maybe even 8.
