Ours is like a piece of furniture: long pipes connected to a clock (which we haven’t been able to fix). We had to reconnect the wires and install a new button outside. So far, so good. 🤞 It looks like this one—how can you not love it?! Louder than a rotary phone, tho
When we moved into our house a few years ago we promptly pulled down the Ring and now the extremely loud 60s-era chime doorbell makes me shriek with surprise every time it rings. 😆 It’s worth it, because it’s cool, but it’s exhausting to a jumpy guy like me

So…after reading Bonnie Tsui’s incredible book Why We Swim, I am now aware that there is such a thing as Samurai swimming: jumping into a pool (or fording a river/strait) in full armor and managing to get across and still use your weapons against the enemy. 🤯
