Metro-North has had several public safety initiatives over the years, including the friendly robot “Metro Man.”

Metro Man joined the team in 1983, and was originally sent into communities to teach children about the difference between diesel service and third rail power.

Say hello to our new modern fare gates! These gates are designed to improve accessibility, help deter fare evasion, and speed up entering/exiting a station.

We're testing several types of gates over the next few months with the goal of eventually adding them at 150 stations across all 5 boroughs.
