It's an advantage of living in a developing country. Tablets are just too expensive, so all kids have normal non-electronic notebooks.

That's not being grumpy. I've seen actual studies that say exactly that.
I also read that Denmark is rolling back laptops in classrooms and bringing back textbooks. It seems tom be a very real problem.
I feel very like that sometimes. It's clear that today's students read way less than we did.
Probably a bit of both.
In my recent reviews I've noticed a disturbing pattern. The authors report their results but make no comparisons with the literature - why is this?

The areas around the chemistry cluster are weird with Finnish Intelligentia and K-pop Indonesian cluster!
This is really great stuff Jett!
This is a really nice tool and I am pleased to see myself in the chemistry research cluster.
You and I look quite close it would seem. Glad to see I am actually in the chemistry research cluster and not some really weird cluster!
I absolutely agree. I was quite shy as a child and dressing up would not of suited me.
I clearly remember in primary school the teacher reading to us in the afternoon, it's one of my fondest memories of school.
Definitely MeCN, ACN just looks weird. I have mat sci friend who always uses ACN. My brain always takes a few seconds longer to process it.
I am going with very unlikely. AI's tendency to say nothing with many words seems to be characteristic feature of the tech.

Incredibly excited to share the final piece of work from my PhD. In this enjoyable collaboration between the Xavi Ribas and @feringalab.bsky.social we were able to rotate a motor guest inside a molecular cage. π§ͺ

I'd guess they ignore the water molecules in the calculation?
I can certainly say that you don't Masters out in Thailand. The MSc is a natural progression to a PhD.
Unlike Canada which John describes in the thread, transfer to the PhD is not possible. But you can start a PhD direct from a BSc. Most don't, they want to try first.
I do love this review. Clear language, but powerful concepts behind it if one reads carefully.
Rant alert!
I have noticed recently an increasing misuse of concepts in papers I review.
One of the most common seems to be the use of band gap theory on molecular complexes. These contain discrete MOs, not bands.
Has anyone else noticed this?

And if they think that students in Europe dress like that they are very much mistaken!
That's lovely!
We are considered civil servants and are therefore vital for the proper running of the nation.
But, that has changed has unis have become more professional. But the old laws remain. It is one of many reforms we need in Thailand.
In Thailand, academics can get tenure, but we are legally forbidden from forming a union.
It has been argued that this allows the admin power that hurts our academic freedoms.
I really canβt understand the reason for these decisions. Thailand is really quite strong in materials research and we love green tech. Itβs inexplicable.
I have found AI useful when I am stuck on how to phrase certain concepts or ideas.
Interestingly, I pretty much never use what it produces, it's more that it sparks other ideas that I go on to use.
So, what will happen?
Interestingly, if I hadn't worked in Canada I would have no idea what this is!
Rather depressingly this kind of research is something the Thai government loves to fund.
As you say, pretty much any plant will work and it's largely formulaic stuff. It's also not sustainable as often claimed.
I just realised on my computer the organisation of the images seems different so to be clear I mean the Beyond the metrics picture.
