Wonderful publication of our marbles from two UM PHD alumnae!
The Kelsey has one of the most extensive collections of Egyptian plant remains outside Egypt!
My personal favorite Renfrew anecdote: at the SAA 75th Antiquity anniversary party, fending off hotel security that was trying to prevent him from pouring generous shots of Jesus College whisky.
May the topsoil be light on him.
This video is for open minded people interested in the truth

After all, central Italy, unlike many other parts of the Mediterranean, had no prior experience with settlements bigger than 1-2 ha. There was no template or paradigm to follow. Rome in particular is very illustrative of the tentative and progressive nature of the process.
Building on our Iron Age results at gabiiproject.org, I argued that key decisions in the zoning of these centers were taken quite late, centuries after their first occupation.
We need to consider that graveyards, fortifications and cult places had newly become communal to the whole settlement
Was delighted to be recently invited to the 2024 Larissa Bonfante workshop, whose theme was Shaping Spaces.

My paper was on "Zoning decisions in early central Italian urbanism". I tried to reflect in a non-teleological way on how areas were defined in early cities.
No, anyone witha serious interest in archaeology can apply
No prior dig experience is required. Must be over 18.
Come dig with us at Gabii
Thrilled to have been in London recently for a lecture at the Society of Antiquaries (@antiquaries.bsky.social) to which I have recently been elected.
