Ahh, I didn't get the email until 11pm here so it clearly was gone for hours before bandcamp even notified me. Happy to see Ulk doing so well, even if it means I don't get to have a physical copy.

Fucked up that there's a new Ulk tape out (one of the few dungeon synth acts I pay close attention to these days) and it sold out within like forty minutes of me getting the email about it. Beautiful otherworldly music.

Been listening to this band for nearly 25 years and I still love the absurdity of it all. "Cher and Gregg Allman's son started a doomy sludgy metal-y new wave synth band and it's actually amazing" is the sort of over the top shit you'd get mocked for making up. But it's true.

Sometimes you think you’ll get to play video games on your day off from work but then you remember that at least one of your arms belongs to your dog any time you are at home and awake.

In an unexpected turn of events, our floor manager is leaving and I'm interviewing to fill the role next week. Perhaps nights like this will show that I'm worth paying a substantial salary. We'll see soon enough. It would be like $25k more annually. Life changing money for my broke ass.

Work was ridiculous tonight. Got stuck an hour and a half longer than scheduled because our bartender called out and it was wildly busy. And I don't get tips today because I was the supervisor on duty, so our server took home like 4 times what I made. Good for him, but I am ready to turn to dust.

I don't know why I'm sharing any of this, but it's been sitting with me in both a place of both beauty and heartache for the last day. Any bond we make is destined to lead to loss of one sort or another, but it's still so worth it. I'm glad I got to know sweet Miss Scarlet.

Last night around 4pm her mom came to the restaurant to see me and said "we've been looking for you. I have to let you know that Scarlet was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and passed away a month ago." She thanked me for being so good to her girl. It made me so sad and grateful all at once.

Scarlet's parents were never customers, but they'd often bring her to see me on walks because she'd refuse to poop or move until she'd come to say hi to me. It's always been one of my favorite parts of coming to work. Lately I've only worked night shifts and haven't seen her, it's been sad.

Nearly three years ago, when I was new at my job, I befriended a sweet mid-sized dog who lived across the street. Her name was Scarlet. One day she started leaning on the doors of my cafe, waiting for us to open so she could get attention. Once she was successful, it became a regular habit.

Sweet Gen Z coworker is a big avenged sevenfold fan and I’m using the fact that they recently toured with Mr. Bungle to force him to listen to California. Using my powers for good.

I genuinely think this is just anywhere he’s received placements. He also used to push hard for metal blogs to interview…him? So if you google his name you can find a few of those too. Would always recommend people avoid working with him. Just never heard anything good.

Yeah like I don’t ever want to speak ill of people I just dislike over petty things but I know a lot of lovely people who got totally burned by this guy and I think it’s really gross. I know you had a bad time and I hate that because you do so many cool things!

Oh he was doing this when his firm had a different name and no noteworthy clients to speak of, just a lot of people willing to give him a shit when “metal twitter” was more of a social club and he would chat with people online a lot.

Sad to see Curtis continue failing his way upward. Dude used to make a living scamming small artists for like $400 a month for his PR services to do nearly nothing. Genuinely shocked to see him representing bands people have actually heard of.

Getting one extra little "nice moment" each week really makes a difference in quality of life. Can't wait to have my small treats back.

Everyone's hours were cut at work like 6 weeks ago because it was slow. They come back to full next week. So excited to have money again so I can live my best artsy clown existence.

Not nearly as fun or upbeat, but I'm also gonna have The Endless Sea in my head for a while to come. What a haunting, brilliant song. It's easy to focus on Lust for Life and The Idiot when talking Iggy, but goddamn he's had so many great songs and albums.
