Irish government policy is to make us more reliant on foreign energy like LNG, while paying out tens of billions of euros in fines for failure to meet climate targets.
Moving to renewables is the only way for Ireland to develop its own sustainable, sovereign energy source. #speirgorm
Spineless and shameless.
I have woken up to excellent news.
Now can certain Irish parties PLEASE stop thinking the way to win elections is to pander to the right?
This is a chance for the team to show their values in action and stand with the people of Palestine.

Irish Times: US aircraft carrying out secretive deportations to Africa and the Middle East have landed in Shannon Airport on 10 occasions in the last year. Deportees are kept in chains on the aircraft.
Our Govt does not want to know.

This is absolutely insane. The sort of Kafka-esque nightmare you would find in a Philip K Dick book set far in the dystopian future. A window on America tumbling into autocracy.

Ireland's leader is going to the White House to present a bowl of shamrock to a racist and fascist adjudicated by a civil court to be a rapist.
He and his ilk do not represent me and people like me, they never did, and they never will.
Israeli air strikes today in Gaza have killed 21 people, including three children.
Despite a US-brokered truce entering its second phase last month, violence has continued in the Gaza Strip - at least 556 people have been killed since the ceasefire took effect on 10 October.

Come on Ireland, sign! For these ECIs to work and be considered by the European Commission, 7 EU member states must meet their threshold, for Ireland that's 10,080. We are now at 8,951, 88 8%. No more EU-Israel Agreement for the apartheid state.

The EU is pushing for significant deregulation, under the guise of "simplification". They are planning to chip away at one vital environmental law at a time. Once lost, these protections rarely return.

I was asked to share this video of a 84 year old grandmothers house in Graiguenamanagh co Kilkenny which flooded today. More flood relief is badly needed in Graiguenamanagh and many other areas. Over years Ministers have visited and made promises but not delivered.

Dr Brendan Ciarán Browne says Israel's banning of 37 humanitarian organisations exposes the grim reality behind claims of a Gaza ceasefire.

Handing over your Nobel Peace Prize to Trump is a pathetic act of appeasement, but so is visiting him in the White House with a little bowl of shamrocks & hoping he won't say anything mean. So is refusing to condemn him for kidnapping a president. It's all appeasement, Trump won't differentiate

Holly Cairns (Cork South-West, Social Democrats) Link to this: Individually. | In context I thank the Taoiseach for his reply. I am aware that the Minister of State, Deputy Smyth, had said she would arrange a meeting with X. That did not exactly fill me with confidence in the first instance. On "Morning Ireland", we heard the UCD law professor and chair of Digital Rights Ireland, T.J. Mcintyre, say that an immediate criminal investigation was warranted. He said that if somebody set up a child abuse image producing factory on, for example, Fenian Street, and their name was not Elon Musk, they would have been raided by the gardai long ago. It is safe to say that in that scenario, there would not be any kind of meeting with the Minister. I am glad the Taoiseach acknowledged that we have existing laws in relation to this for companies. Not distributing child sexual abuse images is one that very clearly should be abided by. It is welcome that the Taoiseach has spoken to the Attorney General. I wonder when that happened and when he plans to convene the meeting of the relevant Ministers. Is the Taoiseach aware of any kind of investigation already taking place? Michel Martin (Cork South-Central, Fianna Fail) Link to this: Individually | In context The Minister of State, Deputy Niamh Smyth, has spoken very frankly and robustly to me in respect of this issue. She clearly has very strong views on it and how we engage both with the platforms and how we should legally respond. Because there are a number of different Departments … . In terms of the investigations, that is a matter for the investigating authorities and it always has been in respect of any illegality or breach of the law. I am not aware of a specific investigation yet by An Garda Siochána but it does not alert us to every investigation that takes place. It has to observe due process. I presume that is how this issue will be dealt with also.
Yesterday, Holly Cairns directly raised the existence of an abuse image factory being set up in Fenian street with the Taoiseach. He responded by saying he didn’t know if there was any investigation into it by the polic
