Everyone who's romantic about large-scale farming thinks it's like a large version of community gardening where you all break for tea in flowery meadows, not the back-breaking work it actually is and I urge them all to spend a day harvesting asparagus or fruit for farm wages.

I think you're supposed to be impressed that they're doing the heavy moral lifting of solemnly agreeing to bomb more primary schools because that's statecraft, but also reassured they're shaking their heads ruefully about it.
