I Love You. Please Find Someone Else. (Gift Article) “In sickness and in health” may sound romantic — until you’re sidelined with a chronic illness.

Resonant, painful essay about the way internalized ableism even more than Long Covid threatened this person’s marriage.

I really admire the work he’s done to get out of that destructive mindset and to a place of acceptance.

Exeter firm excited over long Covid test breakthrough The firm says for some people it can confirm the existence of long Covid and help treatment.

A team in Exeter has developed a finger-prick test to classify long Covid into three types: weak antibody response, excess immune response, and unclear patterns.

Early results suggest it could guide tailored treatments, but larger trials are needed.

Today is my 4 year COVIDversary. I didn't dread it this yr as in previous yrs. I don't want to b sick but have accepted this is my life. I'm one of the unlucky ones whose health has been in steady decline since day 1. But each day w my family is a precious gift now. #LongCovid

Anyone else have musical auditory hallucinations w #LongCovid? Also having more trouble identifying objects (as in I see a shape of something and briefly think it is something else). Coming up on year 5 & the brain damage seems pretty progressive.

I've sent message to my contact at the CDC to find out if they would be willing to have a virtual option for patient reps. Will post an update when I hear back.

THC makes my brain fog much more horrid. Barely functional as it is, but it does help with the pain. I can't manage that trade off with having my kids, though. I need to be present.

I would 💯 try this if I had medical professional who could monitor it. Which will likely never happen. Ugh.

Interesting. I did metformin a year or two ago, but I don't think the dose was that high. It didn't seem to help my LC sxs and destroyed my stomach, so I stopped.

I actually have one, but just the ear clip. Maybe I'll look into the pads for it, thanks! Hadn't thought of that. Would probably help the neck pain at the very least.

Whatcom County reports its first flock infected with Avian influenza A teenager was hospitalized in critical condition on Nov. 9 in Vancouver, B.C. after contracting the first recorded human case of bird flu in Canada, according to Canadian health officials.

“It took a while for scientists to discover COVID was entering the brain. We know – the literature shows – from cases in the past that these viruses [H5Nx variants] like to hide in the brain,” Beckman said.

Thanks. I guess so should say what I've tried: menthol cream, lidocaine, heat, acupressure, ice, OTC pain meds, magnesium oil (topical), neck brace.

Tell me your most effective non-opioid ways to manage pain. Neck and spine pain specifically, but also other joint pain. It's just out of control lately. #LongCovid

Screenshot of the study published yesterday Annals of Neurology. Title: Neurologic Manifestations of Long COVID Disproportionately Affect Young and Middle-Age Adults. Interpretation: Younger and middle-age individuals are disproportionally affected by post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (Neuro-PASC) regardless of acute COVID-19 severity. Although older people more frequently have abnormal neurologic findings and comorbidities, younger and middle-age patients suffer from a higher burden of Neuro-PASC symptoms and cognitive dysfunction contributing to decreased QoL. Neuro-PASC principally affects adults in their prime, contributing to profound public health and socioeconomic impacts warranting dedicated resources for prevention, diagnosis and interventions. You may think that neurological symptoms in #LongCovid are for old people, but it is the opposite. Young adults (18–44 years) and middle-aged (45–64 years) with mild acute #COVID cases (non-hospitalized), represent 90% of the cases of #NeuroCovid. Read here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

New research shows younger and middle-aged adults have worse long COVID symptoms than older adults

"On an average of 10 months after COVID-19 onset, younger (ages 18-44) and middle-aged (ages 45-64) adults had worse neurologic symptoms of long COVID than adults 65 and older."

Anyone with #EBV reactivation taking Acyclovir? I've been on it for two weeks and my knee joints are absolutely killing me. Just wondering if it's another weird #LongCovid phase or common side effect. TIA (Knee joint pain is one of my LC symptoms, but this is intense)

I agree. It at least says that filtering fibrinogen and inflammatory molecules from the plasma can be helpful in the short term. But without addressing the upstream problem l, it's just a band-aid. One that I would absolutely accept, though, if it were available and affordable.
