Donald Trump showed us—again—what’s in his heart when he called domestic violence a ‘lesser crime,’ or just ‘a little fight with the wife’ that shouldn’t be counted in statistics. -Kim Villanueva, National NOW President quoted via @afp.com

Jones: I want to bring theology into this because you have all these people that want to give thoughts and prayers. But I was a minister, and that is a form of theological malpractice—when you pray for something you have the power to change.

U of M Morris grapples with lowest enrollment in years, raising worries for its future The campus in west-central Minnesota has faced declining enrollment for years. Now Morris faces a critical point.

The University of Minnesota, Morris provides an amazing liberal arts experience and learning environment that equals or exceeds MN's private liberal arts colleges at a 1/3 or 1/4 of the price.

Stop prioritizing 70k/yr institutions. Check out places like Morris! www.startribune.com/university-o...

A Bright Spot Is Emerging Amid All This Trump Chaos The point of mass protest is not to stage a perfectly organized, fully realized one-time event.

This is well worth reading:

Just heard DOGE/Musk are cutting half of the staff at the Social Security offices in Alexandria. 40% of the staff in Rochester.

It’ll make it a lot harder for seniors to get help when they run into issues, which might be exactly what they want.

NYT: As conservatives fought against cancel culture on college campuses, they developed a particular fondness for the First Amendment. It was un-American, they argued, to punish someone for exercising their right to speak freely.

Today, however, many of those same conservatives, now in power in state and federal government, are behind a growing crackdown on political expression at universities, in ways that try to sidestep the Constitution’s free-speech guarantees.

Looking Squarely at a Shutdown It’s hard to write clearly when you’re being flooded with new information....

And here's @joshtpm.bsky.social wrestling with the question. To me, the key sentence is: "The current executive orders explicitly say that the end game is a government the size of the shutdown size."

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Trump and Musk have fired Minnesotans like:

-- Park Rangers at Voyageurs
-- Fire protection engineers
-- Workers who care for our veterans
-- Workers who care for folks with disabilities
-- Workers who dole out small business loans

How does this help anyone?
