BREAKING: Newark Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested outside Delaney Hall on Friday, a member of his staff confirmed to NJ Spotlight News.

Looking Back is another iteration of Quench, same space, same gesture, with a different model… I often make the same painting again and again, trying to get it right, or even get it right again.

Yes! That’s it! I didn’t realize I was borrowing the gesture, at the time… But looking back at it now I can see it quite clearly. That’s one of the reasons I consider this part of My Susanna Series.

Quench. This painting borrowed a gesture from a favorite Susanna and the Elders painting of mine… Any guesses which one?

It’s not just the Nazi salute that’s disturbing here. It’s the smirk and nod that follows, signalling to his audience that yeah, I just did a Nazi salute. They clearly believe they are untouchable.

Encyclopædia Britannica will continue to use ‘Gulf of Mexico’ for a few reasons:

-We serve an international audience, a majority of which is outside the U.S.

-The Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water, and the U.S.’s authority to rename it is ambiguous.
