A middle-aged lawyer who doesn’t know what quotation marks are? Suuuuure, that’s plausible.

Caradonna pointed out that even if the number of new patrol officers was cut by two, the department would still have added 20 officers in the last year.

Coun. Marg Gardiner, who voted against the cut along with Alto and councillors Stephen Hammond and Chris Coleman, said it was going down the path of defunding the police. She said the challenges on the street are huge and “we need VicPD to do what they’re doing.”

Thompson dismissed any suggestion that the move is about defunding police, noting the police budget has gone up by almost 40% during council’s term.

just saw a news report where the Ontario gov't claimed that "reducing congestion" means "having more cars on the road, even if they move slower" and the back of my skull nearly fell off

A piece of the 300 million year old seabed that used to cover this area. The sand ripples are caused, then as they are now, by winds disturbing the waters above. So in some ways this is a preserved breeze from hundreds of millions of years ago. 🌬

Thank you so much to everyone who has chipped in to Bailey's vet bill fund. In just one day I am over halfway to my goal of $2000. I cried three times yesterday at the sheer kindness friends and complete strangers alike have shown. Hoping she can get her first tests by Wednesday.

Esquimalt residents asked for input before shovels hit the ground on phase 2 of active transportation plan Before shovels hit the ground this summer, Esquimalt residents are invited to voice their views on the next phase of construction on the active transportation plan for Esquimalt.

Phase 1 of making Esquimalt more people friendly has definitely made it a better place to bicycle. Time for phase 2 engagement, where the most contentious issue will be car storage. #yyjbike

Car dependency maximizes wear and tear on infrastructure.

Car dependency maximizes suffering when that infrastructure has to close for maintenance.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

Wow, what a terrible headline. He didn’t “apologize 18 times,” he said 18 times that he’d already apologized (which, given his behaviour so far, is clearly a claim that should be verified before it’s reported).

In about 3 minutes, the Mayor of Vancouver said “I spoke with Councillor Orr & apologized for my comments” 16 times. That was his answer to every question about why he claimed Sean Orr had handed out illegal drugs to people on the street during Christmas.

In the criminal justice system, snowball-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In New York City, the dedicated detectives who investigate these vicious felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Snowball Unit. These are their stories.
