Learning from the Lives of Threatened Plants Whose lives count in the modern history of extinction? Sadiah Qureshi considers what historians can learn by paying attention to the remarkable lives of plants.

“Paying attention to plants challenges historians to radically rethink common divisions of time and place, and assumptions about whose lives are historically interesting or significant.”

@sadiahqureshi.bsky.social on what we can learn from the lives of endangered plants such as the Wollemi pine.

This is a favourite introduced to me by Roberto. A Venetian Spritz should actually use Select, rather than Aperol. (Imo Select is superior in all drinks)

I had the pleasure of hosting a workshop for MA and PhD researchers working on Finnish North American topics as the final event of my @koneensaatio.fi project at @infomigration.bsky.social. Really great to build our research community.

A light dusting of white snow on the ground. A little bit of sun peeking through the trees in the distance. Two parallel pines in the foreground. A meeting of small dirt roads behind them.

"The disappearance of extended time from the university changes the texture of intellectual life. It narrows how we think and what we are able to notice."

Madiha Tariq asks whether “the opportunity to linger over #research” still has a place in today’s #academic environment.

I can't believe it's happened but I've gotten so used to Calibri that now Times New Roman looks unpleasant. For years I would cringe at Calibri (and the like) and do all that I could to avoid it.

I have a lot of font thoughts but I'm trying to overcome them for the sake of accessibility.

I love Jesse. A forever regret is that I missed my interview time with him years ago when I had a media pass for Winnipeg Folk Fest. The one time I didn't check my mail slot first thing in the morning and was too slow getting to media tent from his set. He was gone by the time I got there. 😭
