Today I was both traveling and inspired, and wrote a 2,800+ word essay about why I think Timothée Chalamet didn't say what you think he said about opera and ballet, and how my work in political cartooning helped me understand that.

Currently throwing together a Substack article about why I think most people I’ve seen talking about it are misunderstanding the Timothée Chalamet quote about ballet and opera, for the most part, and how my experience in political cartooning has helped me see why
As I wrote in the review, the concert "presented a February 12th concert of 16th- and 17th-century European music and poetry all about love: love’s trials, love’s joys, and the in-betweens (including “my girlfriend won’t stop knitting,” which incriminated this reviewer)."

It was an honor to review Opera Lafayette's Valentine's Day concert "Queen of Hearts," which was put on in both DC and NYC over the last few days, for @dctheaterarts.bsky.social!

For those unfamiliar, the Washington Press Club Foundation is a non-profit that promotes equality and excellence in journalism, with an emphasis on promoting women's progress in the field.
The assignment was to create a political cartoon-turned-poster that unites people. I first thought... well, I wish more political cartoons did that. Second, who doesn't feel overwhelmed by the chaos around AI?
I'm deeply honored to have been asked to create the poster for the Washington Press Club Foundation's 80th Annual Congressional Dinner!
Huge thanks to the WPCF for selecting me for this opportunity. Learn more about them here: wpcf.org

There was a fun craft fair taking place at Union Station earlier today... lots of great items, many handmade, but so much AI imagery.
I saw at least 3 different banners featuring AI art, and a booth selling numerous canvas totes with AI art.
Artists could have made those...

I have whiplash from this local store having massive AI-generated murals and ridiculously impressive handmade 3-D art right next to each other.
What are this store’s values about valuing and uplifting talented artists? Who knows?
I was working with an elementary-aged art student today on arranging figurines in her house for still-life drawings. I don’t know if she’ll choose these guys but I may draw them myself on my own

Huge thanks to Tom for this wonderful opportunity!
I am also offering prints of the dragon image only whenever I am exhibiting at a convention.
Past versions of the flyer have been illustrated by the likes of Matt Groening and more.
The flyer will be available at the NCS's table at NYCC and is already being used on the NCS website and social media platforms.
I'm so grateful to the legendary Tom Richmond, who reached out to me about this opportunity, for the chance to illustrate the latest version of the Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship flyer for The National Cartoonists Society Foundation!

My latest new cartoon for Cagle Cartoons.
Alluding to both fantasy monsters as well as that classic Standard Oil "monopoly octopus" political cartoon you've probably seen.

A discussion with 2024 Locher Fellowship Recipient Alexandra Bowman
If the ultimate goal is maximizing American prosperity, I don't think Donald Trump understands how much a UK-made Doctor Who sonic screwdriver and a handmade Cats tail that he's now preventing from being shipped to the US contribute to (an) America(n)'s prosperity
Can you tell I've been working on a Sixth Doctor-themed costume
I'm looking forward to my panel about this topic coming up at the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists' 2025 Convention, which is at the same place and time as the Small Press Expo. Please bring your opinions.
