Today I discovered my dog has an upset stomach when he gave himself a shake and unleashed a fecal claymore which splattered the walls, the couch, the floor, and myself. I’m going to be gagging and sobbing for awhile while I scrub the everything.
Judging by the rate I go through socks these last few years I can only conclude that the socks themselves have gone down in quality, or my feet have gone up in their capacity for incredible violence.
Random lore from the cutting room floor: In the first draft of The Light Between Us, Mr. Friend had a human wife who worked as the lunch lady at the local school. She wasn’t a telepath, but she was a cannibal. Meatloaf Monday was very special to her.
Nothing like really enjoying a new book/show/movie only to go online and discover you are wrong, your tastes are wrong, and you are literal proof that God has abandoned us.

I suspect the bed in our Airbnb is secretly a slab of granite pretending to be a mattress. Silver lining is I have gotten more writing done on this trip than any other largely because I keep waking up at five in the morning.
Pretty sure we found the edge of the world map in Olympic National Park. Going to try to no-clip through the fog to find the developmental levels.

Every time I think the bar can’t get any lower these goddamn limbo masters prove me a fool.
I never liked working out. I know I need to, and the health benefits are undeniable, but I just never got that “exercise high” people talk about.
But now after going to the gym three times a week for a year, and adjusting my diet to match I’ve found that- hah, got you. This still sucks.

Oh I’ll keep it around. Not sure if it will ever see the light of day, though. For every story I write I have a separate word doc titled “prose graveyard”. Every now and then I resurrect a zombie from there. More often they just remain corpses.
That feeling you get when you spend two hours refining a scene to perfection, only to realize it is utterly unnecessary and in fact completely breaks your third act.
If anyone needs me I’ll be in my screaming hole.

A full five months later an eagle eyed reader spotted a glaring inconsistency in The Light Between Us. Should be fixed on the new version I just uploaded. Also finally managed to fix a weird spacing issue in one particular sentence of the Ebook version.
