Writing code, isn’t getting started.
Making a landing page explaining it, sending traffic there, collecting emails, chatting, that’s getting started.

When you follow a successful indie maker, copy their marketing. Not their tech. Obviously learn from their tech choices and selectively adopt them. But they aren’t successful because of their tech, they are successful in spite of it due to good marketing and distribution.
That is true. Everything is a trade-off 🙂
I guess the art lies in defining service boundaries in such a way that interfaces that change often and require frequent coordination still end up being owned by one team (and so lie within one service)

Inspiration is hard because it’s not always there. Discipline though, is like a muscle, you can train and develop it. The more you consciously challenge it, the stronger it gets, and with it, motivation follows.

So small companies can hire senior engineers to stay lean while offering them the 1 perk that creates the biggest impact in their lives
Larger companies need to hire at scale and there simply aren't enough senior engineers to go around. They can afford to groom and train a workforce. And the larger headcount also means it's inherently a better place for young people to socialize
Young people value getting out of the house and having an environment that helps them socialize.
I would guess larger companies and young people new to the industry have a natural win-win alignment
One of the best or worst thing about working alone on a code base is you can force push to deploy

I spent a bunch of time thinking "VCs are evil" after watching a high flying VC company that I was working at get destroyed because of VC power plays
Eventually I realised that VCs are also buying a product and it's best to look at the game with that perspective
