The day's finally arrived! Happy 30th birthday Pokémon! 🥳
This series has been so dear to my heart for so many years, it has brought me so much joy just as it has so many others all over the world!
Still catching 'em all three decades later! ❤️

Arboliva remains ever graceful with their Mega, drawing inspiration from Athena! It feels like the right Pokémon to balance the brain and brawn of the Greek goddess, with the design taking after her painting by Rembrandt!
Mega Project Day 9! Meet your Paldea rep - Mega Arboliva!
Getting Eldegoss from the randomiser was a great opportunity to explore a dark Mega concept, tying its original inspiration to the horrors and mistreatment of workers within the Victorian cotton industry. These ghosts however now protect workers from harm!
Mega Project Day 8! Meet your Galar rep - Mega Eldegoss!
I had to go full Davy Jones’ Locker with Mega Dhelmise! Increasing the size of the kelp body allowed me to add more shipwreck elements to its design, even trying to sneak in a pirate hat shape with the flotsam of the boat!
Mega Project Day 7! Meet your Alola rep - Mega Dhelmise!
As soon as the randomiser gave me Vivillon I knew I wanted to include two things: the Mega Evolution symbol, and a nod to all of its patterns! As such each scale represents one pattern to show how our love of Pokémon brings people all over the world together!
Mega Project Day 6! Meet your Kalos rep - Mega Vivillon!
We do love a dangerous Mega! Differing slightly from my evolution Yeweffoh from a few years back, I went down the route of the men in black and the Roswell landing - though rather than a government cover-up, the aliens hide themselves!
Mega Project Day 5! Meet your Unova rep - Mega Beheeyem!
Much of the focus for this Mega was on the face, so trying to truly emphasise the castle visage with the frill was the main aim with Bastiodon, including turrets and a drawbridge look to the horns!
Mega Project Day 4! Meet your Sinnoh rep - Mega Bastiodon!
There was a natural route to go down with a Luvdisc Mega Evolution: Cupid’s arrow! Though not only did the god of love provide inspiration, but so did electrocardiograms providing the pulse shape of its tail!
Mega Project Day 3! Meet your Hoenn rep - Mega Luvdisc!
In the wake of its two Paradox forms, Donphan presented something of a challenge when it came to designing a Mega. I opted for a biker approach, making the tusks resemble handlebars and adding osteoderms to the body resembling tyre treads!
Mega Project Day 2! Meet your Johto rep - Mega Donphan!
I hate drawing birds but it was good to have a chance to zhuzh up Fearow! Taking inspiration from the Goliath heron for the colours and patterns, as well as the shoebill for the attitude, it felt right to give it the Dark typing to match its more malicious personality change!
It's time for a second batch of Megas!
Introducing your Kanto rep - Mega Fearow!
I wanted to make Houndstone even scarier with its Mega, providing it with a pathway of bones up its back leading damned souls to their doom, alongside a jaw shaped like a gravedigger’s shovel and ribcage-like teeth!
Mega Project Day 9! Meet your Paldea rep - Mega Houndstone!
The spiky little fella gets even spikier! It was really the only route to take with Pincurchin so I looked to add some extra flare with its colours rather than overcomplicate the design - which is where the red accents come in!
Mega Project Day 8! Meet your Galar rep - Mega Pincurchin!
When I received Oranguru from the randomiser I wanted to give it a Gigantopithecus feel, making its design weightier, emphasising the dish shaped face and giving them a sage staff - a wise man of the jungle indeed!
Mega Project Day 7! Meet your Alola rep - Mega Oranguru!
I knew I wanted to go full-on witch for Mega Gourgeist! So I turned the pumpkin into a cauldron from which it can cast its spells, and added a big witch’s hat for good measure!
Mega Project Day 6! Meet your Kalos rep - Mega Gourgeist!
I was very happy to get a brainwave for this design rather than brain-freeze! Drawing inspiration from classic ice cream desserts like banana split and knickerbocker glory, most of the design assembled itself in a lovely coupe!
Mega Project Day 5! Meet your Unova rep - Mega Vanilluxe!
