exactly! iβm neutral towards billie and think sheβs a great musician, but itβs just disappointing to see them stunt cast for something of this caliber. i said it in another reply..but if anyone could potentially do plath justice, victoria pedretti wouldβve been a way more suitable choice

they also already tried to turn it into a film in 1979 starring marilyn hassett and it failed miserably for poor casting, not sticking to the text, and failing to capture the essence of the novel. so i just personally donβt have high hopes or good feels for this new adaption
the novel is dark, blunt, and written chaotically in narritive voice intentionally bc itβs her descent into insanity, so thereβs not a lot of room for nuance with her particular work/story. it just needs to be done with so much reverence and mindfulness towards how she will ultimately be portrayed
highly recommend reading it, but lots of TWs. i just donβt think it will translate well onto the screen at all or that her life story is meant to be commercialized/trivialized in the ways which the industry and media will market this
