Not sure if it's a parenting win or fail that I've successfully got my boys into Flight of the Conchordes but hearing my youngest quoting 'Leggy Blond' at bedtime definitely brings joy ๐

Falling off your scooter as an adult is embarrassing and hurts a lot ๐ค But being able to justify eating a white chocolate creme egg because of the pain balances it all out. (Grown up equivalent of a wet paper towel)

This week's excuse for not doing enough bass practice...cutting my finger on an apri-ski bottle of orangina
As everyone in the sector knows, Higher Education is in trouble. Funding and time for projects like School Tasking is becoming increasingly scarce and we're being forced to make choices about what we can and cannot fund as the project continues to grow. Dedicated staff and student teams at universities across the UK and Ireland are the reason that we are able to keep the joy alive, but we really do rely on the support of generous organisations in enabling us to continue reaching some of of the least-advantaged schools across both countries. With thanks this year to our generous supporters (Addleshaw Goddard, IPO Education - Cracking Ideas, English Heritage and Warwick Law) and to Alex Horne and Avalon Entertainment for last year's raffle that enabled us to roll forward funds into this year. Alex also generously gives up his time each year to run our Champion of Champions Final, which isn't the easiest thing to do when you're the busiest man on the planet. We're very much in need of additional support to keep the project afloat and would greatly appreciate any sponsor interest. We have a fundraising pack for any interested organisations and we're able to provide comprehensive data on how financial support directly benefits children in less-advantaged schools. To find out more about School Tasking and how you can get involved, please see our Fundraising Pack here: https://lnkd.in/gWjhQcuQ And you can see a glimpse of the joy of School Tasking here: https://lnkd.in/g8hA2N6J Please do reach out to us on schooltasking@warwick.ac.uk if you'd like to find out more about how your organisation could be involved. And please do share as widely as possible. We'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Before our #SchoolTasking students went into their schools we asked them to guess the most popular team name... and nobody got it right! Out of the 45 year 5 teams involved the most popular name was...chicken nuggets

Lots and lots of School Tasking workbooks
And so it begins! This year's season of School Tasking sessions start today at The University of Warwick ๐๐
Had the best fun doing the @taskmasteredu.bsky.social Christmas special session as a belated social with my youth group on Friday. Reckon Jan is the best time for something festive! Love that it's a one off session that you can just pick up and run with. Would recommend

Adverts should be representative of traditional British families.
Just learnt that it's "drink cider from eleven" and not "drink cider from a lemon". Well that explains a lot ๐

Felt it was time to put my brave hat on again and have joined a ceilidh band playing bass. First gig this evening, this could be a joyous evening or crushingly awful, we'll see ๐
Saw Starter for Ten at Bristol Old Vic last night. Absolutely brilliant production and Mel Giedroyc is a complete superstar ๐๐๐๐๐

Taskmaster is in this weekโs Beano! Waaaaaah!
As well as being so proud of the work this project does, I'm also a little bit pleased with how much excel I've learnt this summer (it's like magic! ๐ )
In 2024-25 28 Universities In 6 regions across the UK and Ireland and approximately 1,900 children from 51 schools took part. The primary schools taking part meet the criteria for widening participation, with higher than average numbers of pupils receiving free school meals and/or a lower than average attainment level (pupils meeting expected standard in reading, writing, and maths) For the cohort in this study, the average number of pupils receiving free school meals is 39.9% (England only; nationally this is 25.9%) The average attainment level of the schools in our cohort is 56.4% (England only; nationally this is 61%)
Whilst we're on the subject of #Taskmaster, our 2024-25 impact report is now available:

We're so proud of the fact that last year we worked with schools in some of the least-advantaged areas across the UK & Ireland. And the kids really enjoyed the project ๐คฉ
