I am sorry that he treats you this way. I am glad you recognize it for what it is.

With my infant daughter, I am encouraging her to use her voice—though someday we will work on indoor versus outdoor voices 😁—as I never want her to feel that her voice, her words, and her feelings, aren’t important.

For clarity, I am alert and not the one drooling.

I am spending the final afternoon of the leave with my daughter draped on my shoulder, asleep, and drooling.

If I could pause the universe for myself in this moment forever, I would.

I am returning to work tomorrow after having 14 weeks of paid paternity leave following the birth of my daughter. It has easily been the best and most transformative time of my life.

Everyone should have at least this amount of paid leave following the birth or adoption of a child. Everyone.
