I loved watching TWC when I was younger. I've tried watching lots of different web-forecasters and Ryan Hall is definitely the best.

Yeah, yeah, weather radio... I'm awake. It's not like I'd been asleep for that long anyway.
We're under a tornado watch until noon. I'll stay awake until then, but I swear I'm napping this afternoon.
The "news" I was reading earlier was so disappointing / disturbing / *waves hands at everything* I find myself watching tornado coverage as a palate cleanser.
Destructive, absolutely... but at least it isn't greedy, lying, stupid, narcissistic people driven.

There's some stormy weather forecasted for tomorrow, both very early (4am?) and late afternoon/early evening (4-6pm).
Matt has made storm donuts (delicious cinnamon sugar) just in case.
The plan otherwise is to cook some corned beef and a loaf of rye bread, so we can have sandwiches for dinner.
I guess my cell number has been put on some list for potential scamming.
Rec'd a first message from unknown number that I deleted/reported as spam. A couple mins later got one from a second number, then from a third number.
Texts taken together read like they're from the same "miss you" script.
Our last house had a 3-tone door chime, which was fine. We'd told visitors to knock, so it was rare for the dog to react.
Until our local NPR station (this was many years ago) started using the same 3 tones in their audio bump between segments. She would react to the tones. Every. Single. Time.
Thank you!

Matt made me chocolate cupcakes with chocolate chips and mocha buttercream for my birthday (which was yesterday).
So, so good!!!
Apparently now is a good time to renew passports online.
My application date was 2/25/26. I received my new passport book today.
I did not request express shipping.
My favorite way to eat an everything bagel - lightly toasted, with a shmear of creme cheese, a few slices of red onion, and lox (smoked salmon). That was what I just had for lunch and I am so satisfied.
I'm trying hard not to pay attention (today) to news and such.
Stormy weather later this week.
Thank you very much!!
16 freshly-baked bagels (half-size by request). 8 in the back are everything, 8 in the front are onion and garlic.
Matt has made us bagels for breakfast! He just pulled them from the oven and it smells so good in here!!
We have to wait 30 minutes before we can enjoy one... so hard to wait.
Happy International Woman's Day to me!

Fibro and peripheral neuralgia sufferer here - I sleep on an 8" cotton futon with a 3" egg crate foam topper. On the worst pain nights, I use an electric blanket and an 11lb weighted blanket (even in the summer) to loosen things up.
Hope you get some relief soon!!
We've been watching all week... On Monday we paid $2.49 to fill up (we use about a tank of gas a month). At that same station today, reg unleaded was $2.99 and this is one of the cheapest stations near us. Best price right now is $2.89 but I don't think that will last the weekend.
It is absolutely lovely out today. We've run our errands (medical, car registration, pharmacy) and I've already finished my chores for the day (hung new magnetic screen, compost bags to bin).
Percy has freedom to go to his yard without waiting for a human to open door.
I've started my new rx's.
I'm watching the @rhyall.bsky.social stream this evening on a large computer monitor and I kept being distracted by his eyes appearing yellow or red.
I think a green reflection on his glasses from his monitor was being picked up by new camera's green screen filter, so can see projected map colors.
It's relatively warm and humid out there. There's a (very small) chance of severe weather later this afternoon/evening, but enough that Matt made storm donuts (glazed cake) which are delicious.
We'll need to try to make them last for a couple of days, as we've got storm chances through the weekend.
While out running errands today, I noticed the bright yellow of blooming daffodils all along our route.
A sure sign of Spring.
Time to get my garden seeds started.
We're hopeful that Matt's gallbladder saga is finally over. Today he had an interventional radiology appointment. Doc checked that his biliary duct is open (not 100% but enough) and then removed the drain.
Feeling incredibly optimistic.
We "celebrated" by having a diner breakfast at 4:30pm.
So my father had carotid stents placed on both sides, twice. I don't recommend searching for images, but uh... Carotid Endarterectomy scarring is a real thing.
Becauses of this image, I have pulled a pork belly from the freezer to thaw... just so we can make char siu next week!
i'm awake, let's just see what is happening ... oh? oh no! fuck this!
i'm going back to bed.

No shade on anyone who prefers these items; I know life can be busy and they can be time-savers over from-scratch or elbow-grease.
This is something that I need to be more accepting about myself, that I can take advantage of bougie help when I need to, rather than trying to push through without.
We're reframing "cheats" and it helps. For those not in the know, I'm have a disability which can make cooking and other household chores difficult.
Stuff like bought pie crust, chopped veggies, and powered brushes are "accessibility aids". No value judgements, just tools to enable me to help out.
Photo of baking four hand pies in smart oven.
Photo of two golden hand pies (we were already tucking into the other two)
Dinner tonight was a simple hand pie with beef and vegetable filling. Since I was focused on the filling, I didnβt put a lot of effort into making them blog-photo worthy. Weβve already eaten four,
and another four are in the oven (lunch tomorrow??).
Really good!
We had better-than-restaurant-quality nachos with fresh guacamole and pickled jalapeno pepper rings on the side for dinner.
I can't believe we ate the whole thing, but it was so tasty. I'm definitely full.
Today's big accomplishment: finally renewing my passport.
I knew it had to be renewed for this year, and had planned to do it in December. It expired yesterday, but it took us a while to get an acceptable photograph.
Another one of those "likely the last time I do this" things checked off.
For future me, on the days I feel horrid:
Not all days are bad. There are days like today when you have a lot of energy and can check off a lot of those annoying to-do list items. For example, today you managed to help with dishes, clean fan blades & floors, sew, and some cooking.
Hang in there! π«Ά
