Keeping your New Year's resolutions on track can be hard, even for those of us in health psychology!

Have made a Christmas hamper for the food bank (they do a campaign every year - we decorate big cardboard boxes with wrapping paper and then fill them with food). Given how deprived our area is, I'm always touched by the number of hampers they receive.

Was really great to collaborate with my supervisor, and other Derby students on this commentary. Also my first as a correspondence author!

The use case makes no sense to me. If I wanted something that misunderstands a paper but confidently, I could look on Reddit or twitter

Increasingly baffled by "AI powered" summaries and searches on academic papers. firstly, the abstract is the summary, secondly if I need to understand something about the paper, I can read it? if I need to find a specific phrase ctrl f does absolutely fine

Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.

I feel as though the solution to lots of researchers needing PPIE groups to satisfy funding requirements isn't using AI to generate plausible sounding insights

This seems bizarre to me, and perhaps due to viewing lived experience as simply a matter of whether people fit in one box or another.

spent the day in town. got some yellow paint testers for the kitchen and some heather and other random plants for the garden. definitely feeling much more relaxed!

I'm taking a week off work. my supervisor has insisted that this also means no PhD work. I have taken myself out to Kent's finest cathedral city to remove the temptation to look at any work

Hopefully in the final stretch of initial screening, just fighting off boredom with music now.

PhD updates: Application for Registration accepted and approved (needed only minor amends), screening underway on sys review, finalising scales for ethics, writing started.

In February 2024, I wrote Scientific Reports about a published meta-analysis claiming that mindfulness interventions affect neural plasticity, 'cementing the neuropsychological basis of mindfulness-based interventions'.
