Pretty sure this will be me next year, after all the amazing things I learned at #innedco2025

Have to admit, this drone show by St. Vrain made me tear up a bit. I can imagine just how proud their parents and teachers are of their hard work and dedication! #innedco2025

Hey veteran teachers - do you have advice for newer teachers when they are feeling overwhelmed? I don’t want to regret taking some time off with my family for Thanksgiving, but now I feel like I should have plowed through my to-do list instead.

Day 7: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
Thanksgiving was a two book sort of day for me. Might seem antisocial, but there were at least 3 football games (maybe 4?) on the TV, and I did play one round of Yahtzee, so that feels like I socialized with the sports enthusiasts and the rest at least a little bit.

Day 6: Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
I haven’t tried anything on Brisk for a while, the chrome extension kinda got on my nerves last year, so I think I took it off and forgot about its existence. Will definitely take a look again.
Yes, there are some ethical concerns I have considered. I would not run student personal essays (about their own lives) through. So far I have mostly done literary analysis work.
I have decided to try to embrace it. I teach my students how and when it is appropriate to use AI. Will they always take my advice to heart? Obviously not, but giving them the opportunity to try to use it correctly seems to be lessening the “just have Chat GPT write it for me”mindset.
No, but I will for sure check it out!
I have done that with ChatGPT, and it also gives good feedback, harsh grades. Some of the essay graders allow you to upload rubrics with paid membership, but none have convinced me yet that the paid version would be worth the cost.
I have been trying out and experimenting with AI grading, particularly for essays. I really like the feedback from them, but they all are so harsh with grades. Anyone have recommendations of AI grading systems they like?
